This makes me wonder if a recording might be possible via induction.
Yes, but you need an 20 foot extension. I know you can do it!
It's not the length of the extension, it's how you use it.
But seriously, in the case of the original Seasons of the Vine, induction was actually possible since it was a really small theater. I wish I would have tried it, although there was the issue of dealing with the CM at the beginning and end of the film.
Having literally never been inside Wonders of Life (though I did peer through the windows longingly back in July), obviously I can't really speculate as to if a recording is possible. I know Making of Me and Cranium Command both used the ALD system though, so there's a chance there's an ALD feed running in the theater. And I mean, if the theater is small enough, and if there's REALLY no one in there for a cycle, I suspect there is a speaker somewhere that you could reach, or get close enough to get an induction signal.
This is giving me a flashback to the time I ended up alone in the last showing of O'Canada at midnight. In addition to mimicking every annoying guest behavior one could see in a CircleVision film (sitting on the lean rails, running around the theater, commenting on every scene, and singing loudly along to the finale song) I went all the way around the theater with an induction pickup to see if I could get any sort of signal (nope). Memories, memories...
