Ordering "A Musical History of Disneyland"

Just checked and the status of my order is still "at distribution center". According to the overview my order date was Apr 26 2005 06:30:52. So all those lucky enough to have already received the shipping confirmation - what was your order date? That information might help all of us still waiting get a feeling when we can expect our sets to be shipped ...

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Dirk,

Order Date: Apr 26 2005 00:42:30
Order Status: Order is active

Although my item was shipped by DHL yesterday (the package is in NY right now :)), the status at DisneyDirect.com still shows "At distribution center".

I just got back from the Main St music store.

Apparently they sold a few more copies again yesterday, so I stopped by today to see if I could get in on some of that action. Unfortunately Mr. Crankypants was working there again and refused to sell any.

He claims they're sitting in a box in the back room with a big "Do not sell until May 5th" sticker on them, but some clueless CMs just put them out on display anyway and sell them as soon as they show up.

If you show up when the store opens and Crankypants isn't working there (older guy with glasses, and a little rude to boot) you might have a good chance at picking up a copy.

The 'official' in-park sales date is now May 5th according to this guy. I know Randy said the 3rd, but that has apparently changed.

Forgive me if this has been posted and I missed it, but has there been any word of if Delivears will have the limited edition with gold vinyl available?

Thanks to all who posted their order times ... here is my update which may be helpful to all fellow international fans who ordered through DisneyDirect:

Right at this moment (00.00 am CET / 6.00 pm EDT) the Order Tracking on the website of DisneyDirect for my order (which I placed through that website) still lists as status "At distribution center". But this is NOT correct. Based on the current reports posted earlier this seems to be a general problem with the Order Tracking of DisneyDirect... because: I just came back to my own PC and was able to check my e-mail and saw that I received today at 3.30 pm CET (9.30 am EDT) a mail stating that my order had shipped! The e-mail also included the tracking information for DHL (which is the partner of DisneyDirect for international shipping which is done via airplane transport).

And according to DHL this is the actual progress of my LE set:

Hi guys!

Just went to Direct Disney to purchase my copy and they are all out!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wanted to know if an open edition version will be available and if so when and how can I purchase this? I am so annoyed I have missed out on this item.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

David

Disneymagic,

I am hoping Disneyland Delivears will be offering this release, since Disneyland is said to have the lion's share of the limited edition with gold vinyl.

If Delivears caries it, it may be possible to get the Limited Edition through them, perhaps more quickly than it would have come from DisneyDirect, even if you could still get it from them, since they were said to be on backorder.

By the time I was able to log on to the internet the day the DisneyDirect pre-order started, people were already stating that they were on backorder, and there seemed to be some confusion about whether they would be getting the LE (until it was confirmed that the standard edition had a different product number)

So with all that going on I ended up not ordering it yet, hoping I could get an earlier ship date from Delivears, and a better shot at the gold vinyl (but if not, I am very glad to hear of the new black vinyl edition)

FYI: I just happened to be at Disneyland on the 26th, and picked up a copy of the 50th CD set at the Main Street Music Shop around 1 PM. They had a few on the shelf... 5? I guess if it wasn't officially supposed to be sold yet, it definitely wasn't obvious to the two employees at the store. I wasn't really looking for it... just bought it on a whim. It's quite a cool collection.

I personally think it would be to their benefit if they hold most of their copies until the "official" celebration -- it just makes sense.

Hey All! For those who missed out on pre-ordering the LE, Disney Direct is now pre-selling the special edition with black vinyl.... the new item # is 61589. The good news is that if you pre-order today (4/29), you can get in on the free shipping offer! The bad news is..... it ships in 6 weeks!

Just got my notification this morning that my order from the morning of 4/26 has shipped; I did order two--one for me, and one for my son--we've had this duality of our music collections for some time now, as I know that in a few years, he'll be off, taking his treasured music with him(I can't believe I'm writing this.......it seems like only yesterday.......all those cliches are true!).

Guess I'll follow your lead, Dirk, and start tracking.......

Wow, sooner than I expected! I checked DHL this morning to see where it was, and it's already with my USPS deliver person. That means I should get it today! I can't wait to get home and open it!

Well, not really. It seems to be an "inbetween" set. It will not be numbered, but it's not going to be the one availible nationwide.

My set arrived today. The only "limited edition" number I could find was a sticker on the back of the box. Mine is #5024, which seems odd. Is there somewhere else I should look for the number or is that it on the sticker?

Horror of horrors, all six CDs are scratched. It's strange because everything else was flawless. I called DisneyDirect customer service and they have written up my situation to send to the warehouse. The lady I spoke with said someone would contact me by phone. She said hopefully they can just send me a replacement set of the CDs.

Oy vey.

I have no idea where the #5024 came from either.

The scratched CDs are such an annoyance. I had already planned to burn a copy of each CD so the originals would stay in absolute pristine condition. Too bad they didn't arrive that way.

Holy Crap!

That is absolutely unacceptable!

Is the LP gold? There definitely should not be a number above 5000 on a gold LP set.

I am really sorry to hear about your situation - please keep us updated on what happens next! :'(

Good luck,
--Tim
