Ordering "A Musical History of Disneyland"

Castmembers at both Disney Direct and at DelivEars laughed when I just started saying 6 disc set. They have been bombarded with people calling. If they were smart they will be better about the other merchandise coming out and limit it and be better about the dates the items are released. Does Disney not know about all the crazy fans it has? Did they do this for laughs?

Hi everyone,

I called Disneyland DelivEARS, and was put on a list for when it comes out on May 5th. yes, this lady said May 5.

As for DisneyDirect, I really hate them right now. They are so confusing. Is it in, or not? THey don't know anything.
It seems they sold out, and their backorders sold out. They have ceased taking orders on the website.

Overall, after the 5000 with the gold vinyll are gone, they will continue to be sold, as Randy said. Just without the gold vinyll, of course. That is the only thing that sets them apart he said.
Some people think they would have to wait until sept. Randy said sept. was the nationwide release. They should continue to be available at the parks starting May 5 (or 3, or whatever- around that date).

That has been my experience so far.

OK, This is getting interesting. I never got an email saying it was sold out, so I checked the status of my order. It said "at distribution center". At that point, I called Disney Direct again and had the operator (his name was Dereck) check the orderstatus . He said it showed a status of sold out and that the status web page was probably not up to date yet. Then he said, "thats funny, I know thats not sold out yet, let me resubmit it." There was a short pause and then he said "OK, it went through that time. It will ship to you in 4 weeks when the rest of the stock arrives".

I had him triple check that I was confirmed to get one. He said he was sure (He must have thought I was paranoid (LOL)). I also had him read the product description and confirm that it was the limited edition with the gold LP and that the SKU matched up. He confirmed all of that.

In short, if your order shows "at distribution center" on DD's status page, CALL DISNEY DIRECT". If I hadn't have called, my order would not have gone through. For those of you lamenting, call and try again, there appears to be some back order stock left.

I tried DisneyDirect around Noon today and got the "no longer available" banner, so I called the Disney direct number and they gave me the DLR and WDW merch numbers. Neither knew anything about a limited vinyl album. The DLR guy said I should call back around May 1. This afternoon I called WDW merch and they said they could back order it, but didn't know anything about an album. WDW was the only source willing to take my money, so I back-ordered it. I guess we'll see what happens. ???

I've been to this site before but new to the whole forum experience since the contest announcement. And it's been very interesting getting hooked reading all the postings.

Despite the bad moods caused in such a very short time, I just want to give a shout out to Randy and his cohorts again. I'm sure the confusing at the Disney outlets aren't his fault. It's very cool something this exciting is coming out for the celebration at all.

Thanks, Randy.

Where do you see a banner indicating that the item is sold out at DisneyDirect.com. I just clicked on Trent's link, and I don't see any indication it is sold out. I ordered it from the site earlier today with no (apparent) problem.

Confirmed, the banner is gone again. It was there a little more than an hour ago. This, combined with my phone experiences posted above, seems to indicate the the stock is being made available in batches over time.

It was there... for a while. Who knows what's going on? Not me, that's for sure.

At 6pm EST I received the following email from DisneyDirect:

Thank you for your recent product inquiry.

The Disneyland CD set is now available for purchase through the Disney
catalog (1-800-237-5751) or if you would like to begin shopping now,
please click this link or copy and past the link into your browser:
www.disneydirect.com. The item number is 61499 priced at $124.99.

I am sorry that you feel the system has failed you. However, this item
was not available for sale at the time you originally inquired about
it. It is now available for order and can be ordered per above instructions.

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Sandy C.

Just called the automated number for order status and it stated would be shipped within 2 business days!!!! Woo-hoo!!! Guess we'll all see. Perhaps dreams do come true ;)

It looks like they "found a box" - item number 61499 was available online about 35 minutes ago.

For those who asked, 20th Century Music was the only location to have the CDs yesterday, and apparently they have been instructed not to put them out again until 5/3. It seems the stock person didn't know not to push the CDs to the floor yesterday. That happens ALL THE TIME with other merchandise at Disneyland.

Hi Again,

Just spoke to a very knowledgeable fellow at Disney Direct. I called about my order and the automated system handed me off to a CM (PANIC!!) but he assured me that it was in the queue, set to ship in 4 weeks, and was indeed one of the 5000.

Additionally, he said Disney Direct had a total allotment of 1000 to sell.

He also mentioned he had just gotten a memo stating clearly that when the non-LE sets go on sale they will have a different item number (NOT 61499!)

Looks like things are going to be OK... as long as you have the patience to wait until the end of May to put your mitts on the set! :D

:) I finally got to the bottom of it with Terry at DisneyDirect on the phone. When I ordered at 1226 today, they were between lots. Thus, even tho my order was received, I was sent an email 2 hours later saying the item was not available when I ordered (so, forget it!). Two hours later, DD was still showing the item as available, so I ordered again. Almost instantly, the listing page showed the item not be available. But, Terry has now confirmed that second order DID go thru and will be filled (at a 4 week wait) with a LE set with vinyl. I can forget the first one. Timing is everything! What a lousy system!

I have been having the same experience as everyone else here.

I just went to the site and ordered one. It said it would ship in 1 week on the page, but it ended saying 4 weeks on the actual shopping cart page. Seems it will be another shipment coming in later on.
I just hope my order went through. It all seemed to work though.

I'm gonna say a little prayer for the poor cast members who are selling these at stores in the parks. It's gonna be nutty!

It appears that there are at least two rounds of shipping so far - mines supposed to ship within two days and arrive within 8, and from what you all've been saying, the other round is taking 4 weeks. Seems like a pretty large gap. And just as a reminder to those of you folks who will be ordering over the phone, make sure you request the free shipping.

What is the number for Disney Direct? I ordered a set a little before 7pm CST and after what I've been reading about the hell you guys have been going through, I wondering what my EXACT status is.

Is it me or is this reminiscent of the POTC CD fiasco?
