Ordering "A Musical History of Disneyland"

Yeah, but since after the 5000 are gone, the edition will be open ended, I'll bet that orders will be filled with the non-limited stock. That might bum out some people, but it's not like there won't be copies of this set availible.

Just called to confirm my phone order from 8:30 this morning, as I just realized I hadn't gotten an order number. The cast member said that my order did go through for the LE set, and that it is now listed as out of stock. A true feeding frenzy......

FWIW, I just placed an order on-line for the set after speaking to a Disney Direct sales lady (who was super nice). The way she explained the backorder to me was that the sets are received in lots, for example lots of 500. Disney Direct knows how many, TOTAL SETS, they will receive and allow backorders accordingly.

In other words, even though the initial lot of 500 is "sold out", they are accepting more orders because they know additional lots are forthcoming. If the lots of the LE set were not forthcoming, it would not allow additional orders.

Hope this is helpful, and I hope I get the set!

Does anyone know the product numbers of the two disc DL and WDW sets? DD had no information on those.

Additionally, I agree with the posters about the Ebay vultures - they really make me sick. I will go without before I ever buy one from Ebay. Too reminiscent of the LE CD's for the Haunted Mansion and Pirates.

Thanks,

This is a shame  Since this is the limited edition, it should be limited one box set per shipping address or per order. This set should be treasured, listened and enjoyed by all the Disney music fans, instead of being money maker for some selfish EBayers :'(

I've a touch of OCD, so I called one more time to confirm my order. The person I spoke with said my order had been processes and sent to the warehouse for distribution. Shipping time is eight days.

Fingers still tightly crossed!

One more thing for anymore potential orderers out there - it is free shipping if ordered online, but about 25$ (well, to me anyways - in central Florida) when ordered through the 800 number.

The Disney Direct sales lady actually stayed with me on the phone and walked me through the order on the website! ;D

So, the new orders placed online are they part of the LE 5000 or not? The delivery date changed to 4 weeks, so I am assuming these are not the LE sets. I think I am going to try DelivEars and if all else fails then I can get the set online. Free shipping is nice. For the same price I would have liked the LE though.

My saleslady insisted it was the LE. Remember, I ordered Part Number 61499 and the description for that part clearly states:

This numbered box set with the limited-edition gold vinyl is only available at Disneyland? Resort, Walt Disney World? Resort and Disneydirect.com.

The ultimate Disneyland? CD collection is here! Relive the magical sounds of Disneyland's past and present with 6 CDs worth of material. From Main Street to Tomorrowland, Toon Town to Fantasyland and more, Disneyland? Resort come alive rekindling your favorite memories at the Happiest Place On Earth. This set features exclusive content not available anywhere else. In addition to the 6 CDs, this box set includes:

Numbered Limited Edition Presentation Box
Covered in beautiful red cloth, the presentation box is numbered and limited to only 5000 pieces. Box measures 1 3/4'' H x 12 3/4'' W x 12 3/4'' L.

Limited Edition ''Walt Takes You To Disneyland'' 33 RPM Gold Vinyl
This exclusive record commemorates Walt Disney Records' first release and features Walt Disney's voice welcoming everyone to the park on opening day.

Commemorative Book
Featuring 72-pages filled with colorful photos and fascinating facts, this yellow cloth-covered book describes the history of the music featured on the 6 CDs. Book measures 12'' -square.

So.... it had better be the LE or I will be quite upset. I even printed out the description page to have some documentation.

As for DeliverEars, isn't that the WDW sales number? I called them at 407-363-6200 and she said it was not available, to check back after the 5th. :(

It's such a mess, isn't it?

Bottom line for me is - ordered through DisneyDirect.com, free shipping but did charge tax (I am in Florida) so the total for me was 133.74. According to the description online of the one I ordered (quoted above) it is the LE set.

Time will tell...

Well, I just went back in and placed my order via DisneyDirect again. I supposedly still have a LE set, but now it is coming in 4 weeks, not 1 week. I've printed everything, even the item description, so I have proof I ordered the LE not open edition set.

Has anyone heard anymore from WDW and DL mail order?

I never imagined I'd waste 1/2 a day at work fighting to get this set and still not know for sure that I'll own a LE set.

DelivEars is Disneyland and their # is 800-362-4533. I called them. A store at the park yesterday mistakenly put some out and those were sold out. I was told that they would have them beginning May 1st, but DelivEars is not open until 5/2. I was told that I could order it that day. I decided to go ahead and place the order online as item # 61499 does say it is the LE. We'll see...

For what it's worth, I've been keeping an aloof attitude about this. With so much attention on these boards about the CDs after they were announced, it was a no-brainer their release would cause such a commotion, particularly with those wanting to score copies for eBay (and pooh, on Disney for not limiting copies, that should've been a no-brainer from the start).

Like I said earlier, reading all these update posts finally compelled me to order my copy this morning online. But whether I get it, or I get an email telling me "sorry, you're outta luck after all," I'm finding solace that the un-limited version will still be available sans the record (altho' I do own a turntable).

Much like my attitude for being at Disneyland next Thursday, it's gonna be crowded, but I'm just gonna be mellow about it and have a good time.

I can't wait to see how badly DisneyDirect screws up the rest of the great DL merchandise as it goes on sale. Selling 6 - 10 - 20 at a time to ebay scalpers.

Yes, I'm a little bitter.

I agree jmu. I feel they should be limited to one per household. This would better everyones chances of getting these great items.

Update:

The Disney Direct site is now showning a red banner stating "Item #61499 is currently unavailable."

Could be that they sold out current AND future amounts available of the LE set.

This would line up with what I was told by DisneyDirect. Once their current stock AND their incoming stock (which we all know was capped at less than 5000 since it is also going to the two main parks) is accounted for - it will no longer be available to order.

What I will call "First Round" folks (still remembering the recent NFL draft!) were able to order the in-stock LE sets and have them set to ship within a week.

The "Second Round" folks, of which I am one, ordered the LE set from the incoming inventory and will have it delivered within 4 weeks.

Looks like anyone else wishing to order from DisneyDirect is out of luck.

I wonder how many people ordered more than one or two sets? E-baystards!

Thanks again to all on here for the heads up so I was able to order - much appreciate it!

I guess a good question is:

Will DisneyDirect ONLY sell the LE and not open edition set?

I have to believe that if they sell the open edition set that they must use a different part number and description for it. To fill orders with the non-LE set when clearly describing an LE collectors set would be tantamount to false advertisement and fraud. Part 61499 which I and many others here ordered - is clearly described as the LE set.

When tracking the order, if it says 'at the distribution centre' does that mean that it will be shipped within 1 week or not??

Thanks
