I plan to be waiting in line at the Main St. Music Shop when the park opens on May 3rd.

Disneyland.com says the park opens at 10AM that day. Does anyone remember what time they actually let people on to Main St? Would it be 9:30 or 9 AM?

I called last week, they knew about the set, but didn't have a release date or price.

Steven - Did they say it'd be available May 5th in the park or through Delivears?

Everyone else has said the 3rd so far... What's the DL Merch phone number?

Question-I have this fold out map and it has punch out records with music for each land....I never punched out the records to listen to them, but I was wondering is the audio on these paper records the same as what was released on the album, Walt Disney takes you to Disneyland?

    Two or more questions...

    1) Is the vinyl the only thing that sets the LE out from the other? Is the book included in both editions?

    2) Am I understanding correctly that once these first 5000 run out, we have to wait until Sept. for the non LE version?

Re:A Musical History of Disneyland ? The Facts

    1. I think the answer is yes for both questions.
    2. I think the Sept exclusivity applies to DL, WDW, and disneydirect; i.e., you won't be able to get it anywhere else like Best Buy or Amazon until Sept. I think the non-LE set will be available immediately after the LE sets sell out.

Re:A Musical History of Disneyland ? The Facts

I just came back from the park to see if I could pick up a LE copy today since they were selling them yesterday.

I got to 20th Century Music at 12:15 and the guy had no clue what I was talking about. He claimed they hadn't received any yet. I asked him when they'd be available for sale in the park and he said "later in the year, because the 50th celebration lasts all year long."

Clearly I wasn't going to get anywhere with this guy so I just left the park hoped to learn more here.

Re:A Musical History of Disneyland ? The Facts

I heard from the CM at DelivEars that there were some sets mistakenly put out yesterday at 20th Century Music and they sold out. The set won't be available there again until 5/1 or through DelivEars on 5/2. I hope the park puts a limit on the number of copies someone can buy, so we don't get a lot of ebay scalpers like with disneydirect.

Re:A Musical History of Disneyland ? The Facts

I had a similar experience, which was almost expected. A few things to remember about the CM, especially in the music shop.

1)Sometimes when they say they don't know, it's really true. They don't necessarily read these boards, and sometimes their updates are behind ours.

2)The music shop is notorious for being staffed with "the new guy" who is fresh off training and doesn't know why DL doesn't carry the DVD's of Shrek and Anastasia.

Anyway, I also spoke to a CM who claimed that he would be in the music shop today , after noon (wonder if it's the same guy. He seemed fed up with questions about this set. "We don't have it and I don't know when we are going to get it". He said that several guests are claiming to have bought it already but he doesn't see how as they haven't recieved it yet. I'm all for following the street date which is what I assume is really going on. That's fine, however if someone decides to break that and sell them early, I'm definately pickin' one up.

Re:A Musical History of Disneyland ? The Facts

My folks and I ordered a copy of the 6-CD set from DisneyDirect earlier today.

I sure can't wait to listen to it.

And I'm still hoping that Walt Disney World will produce a similar multi-CD set for its 50th anniversary in 2021...or for one of its other upcoming or future anniversaries.
