The Board and Staff of Experience Music Project and Wells Fargo invite you to the member?s preview of Disney: The Music Behind the Magic featuring a musical performance by Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, special guest Mickey Mouse, hands-on children?s activities and ?kid-friendly? food.
Saturday, Nov 4th, 10 am ? 6 pm
Please join the EMP for the public opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of Disney: The Music Behind the Magic. Special events include a ribbon cutting at 10:15 am, featuring Mickey Mouse, interactive games, family-friendly gallery activities and performances throughout the day.
11:30 am to 1:00 pm: Greg Ehrbar, author of MouseTracks: The Story of Walt Disney Records moderates the panel discussion Walt Disney Records: Then & Now, discussing the label?s start as Disneyland Records and its evolution over the last 50 years. Panelists include Walt Disney Records producer and historian Randy Thornton; Disney historian and artist Stacia Martin; Walt Disney Records artist Ginny Tyler; and recording artist Marni Nixon.
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm: Join us for a five-author book signing featuring Greg Ehrbar, Marni Nixon, Jeff Kurtti, Stacia Martin and Robert Tieman.
4:00 pm to 5:30 pm: EMP Senior Curator Jasen Emmons moderates The Legacy of Disney Music, a panel discussion about the role of music in Disney?s success and the qualities that have made it so popular and timeless. Panelists include Disney historians Les Perkins and Paula Sigman Lowery; Jeff Kurtti, Creative Director of the Walt Disney Museum; and Robert Tieman, Disney Archivist.
6:30 pm ? 10:00 pm: The Mountain Ears have a Meet ?N Greet room 3 blocks away at the Hampton Inn and Suites hotel, Queen Anne room. The hotel is located on 5th Ave N. at Roy St. Go have dinner after the seminars and then wander over to the hotel to talk about the day?s events. We?ll have some snacks and drinks available. The hotel registration desk is on the left as you enter. Walk past that and before you get to the end of the hall you will find our room on the left hand side. Look for the Mountain Ears logo on the door. Parking at the Hampton Inn is $9 but there is street parking all around for free

Exhibit curator Jasen Emmons shares excerpts of filmed interviews with Disney artists and experts, including Richard Sherman, Phil Collins, Alan Menken, Leonard Maltin, Thomas Schumacher, and others talking about different aspects of Disney music. Followed by a question-and-answer session.
