Hey there, Hi there, Ho there,

sounds great ... I would love to attend ... but will only know this much later due to the long distance ...

It would be great to invite maybe someone representing the creative side of each Resort as well.

While there have been numerous names listed that would represent WDW and DL the newer Resorts Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong are still missing from the list.

In an ideal case Vasile Sirli could represent DLRP. He can be contacted through DLRP but I don't know whether he would be able to attend though.

I'm bumping this thread because I think some of us are waiting for updates on this event (has a date and definte location been set?).

My website (visionsfantastic.com) is eager to promote/advertise the event as needed, and I'm even willing to host/build a website for it on one of my dedicated servers!

We went up to the EMP last week to tour exhibit site and room for convention. Looking like first weekend in November for exhibit opening, so expect convention date to be set for that time also. We should get confirmed dates from EMP and WDR soon. Working with EMP, Randy and National NFFC to set it all up. Invites to Disney legends/speakers going out soon. More updates as I get them! Start planning your trip to Seattle. This is going to be a blast!

Carson Van Osten painted the covers for some of the final Disneyland LP's of the mid-1980s. Am I right, Brer Ehrb'ar?

Update on MOUSE TRACKS: THE STORY OF WALT DISNEY RECORDS... The index was finished a week or so ago, everything has been turned in to the publisher, and they are expecting that books will be available by May 1 or so.

WOW...congrats Rick. David Wise and MIchelle Amato....the real Disney park singers! I knew you?d do it someday but I had no idea it would be so soon! Any chance we can hear this song online? Congrats again.

Carson was with Disney many many years, part of the records division for a portion of those years, as Tim mentioned. He was an art director so he had a role in album covers, which would be nice to celebrate. Other artists included Paul Wenzel and even the legendary Peter Ellenshaw, who painted the WESTWARD HO THE WAGONS cover. The real expert on the visual aspects of Disney records is Stacia Martin, an accomplished artist herself, and author of the book accompanying the 6-disc Disneyland boxed set. It would be great if she could be involved in the convention.

RICK!!! When is the song going to be done?!?!?!??! I can't wait to hear it!! That is amazing that David and Michelle are recording it. I bet it is amazing.

Hey KY!

Thanks for your post! Oh, David and Michelle are AMAZING and possibly the two kindest, most caring people I?ve ever worked with. The project is almost fully completed. David and Michelle really are ?that Disney sound?. As you may know, they are the same vocalists who recorded ?Remember the Magic- Parade version and Fireworks Finale? (as most of you know, Remember the Magic is my favorite song to ever come out of Disney), ?Everyday?s A Holiday?, almost all the really tight Kids of the Kingdom stuff, the Share a Dream Come True Parade, and just about ALL the shows and parades from Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland and Disney World from the past 10-12 years. (Oh, you would recognize David?s voice as the soloist from the Wishes pop version and the soloist from Blazing Rhythms in TDL.)

I can not even begin to tell you how blessed I feel to have the chance to work with them. That was my dream! I?m still not sure how to let you all hear the piece yet due to strict Disney copyright laws, but I will try my very best to find a way. I?m sure if someone posted a live recording from the convention that would be okay but as far as a full sound quality release, I?m not sure yet. I will keep you updated on my page at Visions Fantastic.

Have a great day!!!

Hello everyone,

I have been following this discussion closely and I am very excited to attend this convention. I am even more excited because my best friend and fellow Disney Music Discussioner Rick McKee or ?wishesfan? was asked and has written the theme song for the convention entitled "Celebrate the Magic." I have had the awesome pleasure of being able to listen to this composition and I can tell you all that it has exceeded my expectations. I have known Rick for a long time and even written some songs with him but I have never heard something of this caliber. You all will not be disappointed. I am now going to attempt to review the piece so here it goes.

?Celebrate the Magic? consists of 3 different movements.

The first movement is entitled, "The Magic Lives On." This movement is more of a ballad or lullaby song. It uses lots of stings, flutes and oboe. It is very warm sounding using lots of major chords. It is very beautiful especially Michelle?s voice. It could definitely put me to sleep. I like to put this track on repeat. I have posted the lyrics to each song respectively.

?The Magic Lives On? ? Music and Lyrics by Rick McKee

Michelle Amato:
Do you remember the feeling?
Go back to a time
Back to a place
Dreaming the dream of a song made of magic
The music of fantasy

David Wise:
Open your eyes and you will find
Magical Memories inside
Make a wish and fall into a world
Where wishes and dreams come true

Together:
And forevermore the magic lives on

The next movement is the main theme of the piece ?Celebrate the Magic.? This is a great fun song! It is very upbeat using more of a techno TDL style. It makes you want to get up and dance. The song has lots of drums and synthesized percussion. It uses brass, chimes, bass, and of course amazing vocals and ad-libbing by Michelle and David. This song definitely ends with a bang.

?Celebrate the Magic? ? Music and Lyrics by Rick McKee

Celebrate the magic
Come celebrate the magic
The memories that live inside you
Come celebrate the magic
And let your spirit soar

Open your eyes and you will find
Magical Memories inside
That Disney feeling never has to end

Start the celebration
Feel the jubilation
It?s time to celebrate the magic

Dance Break

Ahhh
Open your eyes and you will find
Magical Memories inside
That Disney feeling never has to end
Oh no it never ends

Start the celebration (Echo)
Feel the jubilation (Echo)
It?s time to celebrate
Celebrate the magic
Celebrate the magic

The magical memories of Disney

The last movement is entitled ?Celebrate the Magic Finale.? It is the icing on the cake. It is short, yet very, very, Disney!! This has to be my favorite section because it gives you those warm Disney fuzzies and also the biggest chills you will ever get when listening to endings. The ending on this one tops most if not all Disney endings I have ever heard. Michelle goes up to a high D at the end it is inhuman. I wish I could describe it to you.

?Celebrate the Magic Finale? ? Music and Lyrics by Rick McKee

Walt Disney:
To all who come to this happy place ? welcome.
Here aged relives fond memories of the past
And here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future?
With the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.

Open your eyes and you will find
Magical Memories inside
It?s time to celebrate

The Magic

Musical Interlude

Celebrate the Magic!

The total run time of ?Celebrate the Magic? is 4:52. It is 4:52 of pure Disney music magic. I wish I could have described it in such a way as to do it justice but talking about music can never do it justice. You all will have to hear it.

Luckily for you all Rick is going to premiere it at his composition forum ?Project 21.? I might just have to bring my video camera and get a live recording of it. I?ll keep you posted as to when I get it up online, but until then best of wishes to you all. I?ll see you in November at the Disney Music Convention!!!!

I just want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to the video of your composition.

I remember when I first heard the "Remember The Magic" music at Walt Disney World in the late 90's, it gave me such an ovewrwhelming feeling of joy and happiness that I almost cried. Hearing your music has given me that same feeling. I am so looking forward to hearing more in the future...and hopefully somday hearing it while I am walking toward the castle at Walt Disney World or Disneyland.

Had our NFFC meeting last weekend and our guest was Jasen Emmons who is the curator for the EMP. He had just got back from doing an oral history interview with Alen Mencken. Jasen also asked Alen if he might be able to come and speak at the convention! He said it is a possiblity! Here's hoping. That would be both Robert Sherman and Alen Mencken for starters! :)

Jasen has several hours of interviews from Disney artist but will only be able to use small portions in the exhibits. He said he has lots of good stuff and it would be a shame to put in all in the vaults. I asked him if we could maybe have an evening showing of the best stuff in the JBL theater. ;D

If you have not seen it yet, go to www.Visionsfantstic.com and check out the ad for the convention created by Rick McKee and Chris Lang. Very well done!

More comimg soon.
Ken

If Alan Menken comes I will for sure be there. Not to mention Richard Sherman! Those are the two legends in the Disney Movies. The park music wouldn't be the same without their amazing songs. I can't wait. Not to mention the World Premire of "Celebrate the Magic" by the new and upcoming Disney composer Rick Mckee!!!

I hope everyone is up in Washington in November to "Celebrate the Magic" of Disney!

A once-in-a-lifetime tribute to Disney music is on tap beginning in November.
The Experience Music Project, an interactive museum established by ex-Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen, will hold a year-long testimonial to Walt Disney?s genius for combining good stories with good music. The event, at EMP in the lee of downtown Seattle?s Space Needle, is dubbed ?Disney: The Music Behind the Magic.?
The project?s launch is the Nov. 3-4-5 weekend, when a series of events featuring Disney celebrities will open the event.
A program at 7:30 p.m. on Friday the 3rd will include numerous video moments captured by EMP archivist Jasen Emmons. Among the well-known Disney-related stars he interviewed are Richard Sherman, Phil Collins and Alan Menken.
Numerous programs are scheduled for Saturday the 4th, beginning at 3 p.m. Disney Imagineer Joe Herrington will lead one presentation. Such Disney personalities as Randy Thornton, Stacia Martin and Ginny Tyler will highlight another. Contests and singalongs also will engage visitors.
A Sunday afternoon get-together will feature Marni Nixon, a Seattle-area native best known as the voice substitute in movie roles by Natalie Wood and Audrey Hepburn. Despite an action-packed opening-weekend schedule, Emmons said he continues to seek Disney stars for personal appearances.
The exhibits are similarly star struck, from Mickey Mouse?s first endeavor, ?Steamboat Willie,? to more modern efforts. Among the highlights: artifacts and memorabilia from Annette Funicello?s music, ?The Ballad of Davy Crockett,? ?Mary Poppins,? ?Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,? ?Song of the South? and ?Little Mermaid.?
