What are you talking about? Aren't you the club curator? And didn't you tell me that you were planning to run for club president next year?

Um, I think you have me confused with someone else. I never said that (why would I want to take your job?).

Your real name isn't Fletcher Hodges?

Fletcher Hodges, Club Curator, and Pamelia Perkins, Club President

I will be at the Adventurers Club getting the area music that you asked about sometime in the next week. I've got an excellent plan.

American Heritage Dictionary
cu—ra—tor (kyŏŏ-rā'tər, kyŏŏr'ə-tər)
n. One who manages or oversees, as the administrative director of a collection of Disney Parks® Music, often obtained by dubious methods [see entry for DPMWJ].

What's with all this DPMWJ business? I swear, I'm out of it for a little while and everybody starts getting delusions of grandeur...

As for that Adventurers Club area loop, you better have some time on your hands. Some folks I know are working on piecing together several partial recordings of the loop, and it seems it is much longer than most BGM loops on property. They're estimating its around 75 minutes total.

When I'm down at the club a week from Saturday I might just stick the pickup somewhere discreet if I can and leave it running until I leave.

Not to worry, I've got it covered, and it wouldn't matter if it were three hours long. This one is a cakewalk.

Urban Dictionary
cake·walk (kāk-wȯk)
n. A mixture of the expressions "a piece of cake" and "a walk in the park." Used to describe a task that is extremely, ridiculously friggin easy.

I'm pretty sure I will try this evening. I was told it was close to two hours long.

You do know that the cloob is busiest on weekends... and that it's the 4th of July weekend to boot, right?

It took me three friggin hours to get home after Epcot's fireworks last night... and I live all of 10 minutes away in Celebration. :(

I'm glad I passed on going to EPCOT then. How early do you need to sit down in order to secure a spot in World Showcase?

Good point about the crowd levels at AC. I still may give it a try, assuming I am in Downtown Disney around 7.

@Jay - You can still live there? Isn't it only temporary?

@Horizons - We got an okay spot with a nice view on a fence surrounding a small tree in Japan. We got it about 30 seconds before showtime.

That depends on how good of a spot you want. Some people are camped out in prime locations as early as 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Having already seen the 4th of July show from a front spot in previous years, and knowing that people try to weasel in on your personal space at the last minute, even though you grabbed the spot four hours ealier, I decided I wasn't going to get into any of that this year.

I actually got on the monorail over to the TTC at around 8:00 PM so that I could get a 2nd recording of the 10 minute announcement at the MK. I was in place at my favorite speaker by 8:20 PM. That's how I know there was no 10 minute announcement last night. I ended up watching/recording the full show so as to not have my trip be a total waste.

My family remained back at Epcot, and grabbed a spot over near Africa (lighter crowds there) around 9:15 PM. A couple of phone calls and some red-white-blue blinking lights got me to the right spot by 9:45 PM. We were directly behind a family sitting on a bench right at the water. Pretty good for not having camped out five or six hours early.

I could be mistaken, but I believe the AC doesn't open until 8:00 PM.

Celebration? Temporary? What would give you that idea? There are real homes there, some of them having sold for as much as $5-6 million, and I believe we're up to around 5,000 total households now (counting what few apartments haven't been converted to condos).

Oh, I was probably reading from an out of date Birnbaum's guide.

"With the addition of the Celebration Hotel, which opened in fall 1999, guest can do more than just visit this quaint little town - they can move in! (If temporarily.)"

Maybe I didn't catch the wording.

OT: Do they have school systems in Celebration (is it self sustaining)?

Yes, they originally had a single K-12 school, as some sort of "educational experiment," but they ended up building a separate elementary, high school, etc. There is a college in town as well. And an absolutely beautiful hospital. A fire station, post office, banks, restaurants, barber shop, all sorts of stuff.

And it's independent from Disney now, correct?

Well, I guess it's time to move again. :D

You better tell 'em to locate some more pieces. :p

I was at the cloob last night for a little fun. I wasn't paying complete attention, and I didn't have a watch with a sweeping second hand, so I can't give you an exact figure, but I can tell you that it was approximately 120-122 minutes before I heard Glenn Miller's In the Mood and, two tracks later, Pennsylvania 6-5000 come back around.

Im lookin for an induction recording of the loop to identify the sources of all the tracks. I've already tracked down six, thanks to the induction recordings on towerofterror.org. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Here's my theory:
I believe that they used only the 'echo return' for this effect...What that means is on channels 1 & 2 you have the source audio and on channels 3 & 4 you have the return from the reverb (just the reverb itself). With this technique, you can actually control the reverb throughout the piece....

In short, I surmise that WDI used a "Room" filter on the reverb (a Room sound has a shorter decay and less of a stereotypical reverb sound) and only used the returns to achieve this very effective, well effect.

I know this post is a bit dated but hey...better late than never I always say.

Randy you are absolutely correct in your theory. With the old analog consoles that was the preferred way of handling reverb and fx returns. That way you could not only automate the returns you could also EQ the reverb "sound" itself separately from the source. I didn't personally create the echoey effect used for the BGM loop on Tower so I don't know the exact settings that were used but I can say with about 95% accuracy that the box used was a Lexicon 480L. It was (and still is) a very complex fx box that could create just about any effect needed.
