iTunes/Park Cd question for Randy

Yes it was released on a PROMO CD, and yes it was limited to 500*. However, since I put it on the official album, over 25,000 people have it in their library now and even more in the future.

Here?s another question: Is it better to fill your own personal library, or introduce more people to this music?

Randy

* Both the Promo and the Limited quantities aspect of this release avoided the clearances I needed to make happen so that the cue would be available forever.

Mr. Thornton,

I am not complaining. i am just a serious disney park music collector and love all the music from the attractions and would love to own all the cues one day. i purchase every park music cd i can to support future releases. i am very appreciative and glad for what you have been able to give us over the years. i respect what you do and the decisions you make, which are always the best. please do not take what i say as a complaint or nagging, i just wish to see more music from attractions in the future.

i have a question for you: is it possible to sell "more" music from attractions that have had music released before like ellen's energy adventure, online only via the itunes music store? is it cheaper to do this? what would have to be done?

a composer i speak to said, i am a "completist". i enjoy collecting all the music from attractions at disney parks, mostly walt disney world and disneyland.

also, i know the official albums are not just for disney park music collectors such as myself, who frequently visit the world. they are for people who visit the parks once or a few times and would like to take home a memory of the overall theme of the attraction home with them. i visit the parks several times a year, in fact, i have been going since i was 1 year old, making a total of over 600 trips, since then.

i heard that intrada records was in talks with disney to get permission and rights, i guess, to release bruce broughton's park music can you either confirm or deny this? also, if you want to know how many people would buy a "Best-Of" cd of bruce broughton park music, do a survey in the parks, as guests enter the park, as they do currently, asking where you are from and your zip code etc... would that work?

btw...did you get my e-mail from cbarry.....

WDWGuy08,

I did not take your comments to be nagging or complaining. I just wanted you to know the facts in regards to your post.

I know you are passionate about this material, which is why I?ve tried to explain as much as I can. My letter to you in response to your petition (as well as several of my recent posts here), pretty much explains the whole scenario from beginning to end.

I really don?t think there?s more I can say on the subject that I haven?t already.

All my best,

Randy Thornton

Not to jump in here, but didn't he just say that nothing more could be done? WDWGuy we all know your love for that music, really I can only think of 1 message board I am on that you have not posted your "love" of the music, but you say you are not complaining or nagging? To me, a outside once in a while more lurker then poster, it really sounds like you are nagging and when you hear "can't do anything more" you start to complain. There is a old saying you can't fight City Hall, well I think you have gone to City Hall, presented your case they reviewed it, you gave it to a great lawyer (Randy) and the final word is No.

I would love every track from ATIS from back in the day or every track from (insert any attraction here) but when it can't happen it can't happen.

Yeah, count me in as one who never even knew about any promo CD's. It was floating around on the net before, but the quality was never as good. So, I'm happy it did show up on the OA. Count me as one of the 25,000.

"Here?s another question: Is it better to fill your own personal library, or introduce more people to this music?"

As a completist, I also want it all, but I understand this thought. I know who the OA is aimed at, and Randy has tried his best to get new stuff to the collectors too. So, I understand the limitations of what's being offered.

A man and his dream. I can relate to that. I am still hoping that one day the original Main Street Electrical Parade with the Jack Wagner "Walt Disney World" opening will somehow see the light of day. When and if that happens I can rest easy. Of course I usually only mention this dream once every few years :)

WDWGuy08,

You know that I am a supporter of your "cause" but I think it is time to acknowledge that you have taken your quest as far as you can, at least for now. I don't think another round (or more) of emails, pms, or forum posts is going to make any difference. In fact, I fear that doing more on your part will actually be counter productive to the cause.

Thanks for getting the message out that there is a fan base that would like to see more park music released, but let's see what develops over the months ahead. Randy suggested that good things are in store for the future, so let's leave it at that.

When were the last Official Album updates (before the upcoming 2008 reissues)? People keep talking about "next year" as though they have been coming on a yearly basis. I had an incredibly busy 2007 and I could have missed something. The most recent Official Albums I have are: Disneyland - Remember the Moments (2006) and Walt Disney World: Where the Magic Lives (2006) Any information would be appreciated.

in 2005 besides the 6disc musical history of disneyland, disneyland and wdw also received a 2-disc official album (and disneyland also got a 1 disc with selections from it as well). The next year, 2006, both parks got a 2 disc set as you have them. So come 2007 people thought this was the new trend and that there would be another one so that's why.

Any chance pictures could be posted of those? I have a very visual memory and I list with pictures (in my mind) :)

Thanks!

If I recall correctly, this is the disneyland album that was being referred to.

I agree, I don't think there has been cover art from DL/WDW OA I have liked in a long time.

I know the 50th anniversary OA for DL/WDW were both blue (I don't have them, spent all my dough on the 6-disc that year) and 2discs?

What is the single disc DL oa almandot was referring to? Or was the 50th anniversary one a single disc?

Shesh, you would think I could keep track, and for those of you following along, no I can't. Thats it, my next project is to make myself a guide, I'm tired of being confused all the time. :)

thanks all who have answered my questions!

This was the cover of the single disc 50th Anniversary Official Album. While The Parks has their exclusive 2 Disc Special Editions, this was created for wide release beyond The Parks.

...and that was one of the best covers. I just noticed that they used a blueprint of WDW's Castle for HKDL. Interesting since the park opened the year this came out and the final design had already been decided upon long before.
