Fort Wilderness Pioneer Hall Area Music

I just realized the Meadow pool at Fort Wilderness is now open again. Any bets as to whether a different bluegrass loop is playing here?

I need some assistance with capturing these bluegrass loops. Any volunteers?

I went back to Pioneer Hall early this morning to complete my reference recording. As you may recall, on my initial attempt, I recorded for approximately 3 1/2 hours. When I analyzed the recording, I noticed four long pauses in the recording, which suggests this music is being delivered by CD. Based on this, I determined I had full or partial recordings of four CDs, broken out as follows:

CD1 - 33:29
CD2 - 63:39
CD3 - 61:41
CD4 - 42.27

With respect to CD4, I was able to capture 15 songs. Last weekend, I went back to Fort Wilderness twice. In the morning, as soon as I got there, I was able to ID a song called "The Devil Went Down to Berkley." This song was not in my previous 3 1/2 hour recording so I went home, as I did not want to wait until the loop cycled through to where I left off. I went back in the afternoon and the first song I was able to ID was "The Devil Went Down to Berkley." After checking the time between my two visits, I realized this song was played slightly over six hours apart. Again, not wanting to wait for the loop to cycle through, I went home. However, this visit suggested to me the total running time of the Pioneer Hall loop was six hours (plus a few minutes).

As soon as I got to Pioneer Hall this morning, I noticed that a song I captured on CD4 was playing. I was very happy since it looked like I wouldn't have to wait for the loop to cycle through. I couldn't have timed my visit any better (or so I thought). :) It turns out CD4 runs 67:08 and contains 24 tracks.

The Ironman competition was going on at Pioneer Hall today, so it was very busy and loud, as they had other music blasting for the athletes and spectators. I wasn't able to hear the bluegrass loop from the speaker I was using. Based on my last visit, I just figured I would need to record for 2 1/2 hours in order to complete a six hour recording. However, when I tagged one of the tracks, about 40 minutes into my recording, I noticed that CD4 was playing again. As I said, CD4 was playing when I arrived and after 40 minutes, I was tagging one of the first few songs in the CD4 loop. Given what happened to me at Port Orleans, with a loop being played twice, I decided to keep going. However, when the CD4 loop finished again, it started over! This makes no sense to me. I know there are at least FOUR separate CDs. When I got there, CD4 was in process. This means, during a two hour recording, I recorded CD4, in whole or in part, three times!

When I initially made my 3 1/2 hour recording, I tried to ID every track as I went using Shazam. There were no repeated songs or grouping of songs. I'm going to go back and analyze the 3 1/2 hour recording again, but, right now, it appears that someone has decided to only play CD4 this morning.

I put a call in to a friend at Ft. Wilderness and let him know that Horizons was coming this morning. :p

Shhhhhh. Don't let him know. It's our little secret. ;)

Note: Horizons is the only person who cannot see this post.

Hahaha.

Well that certainly is strange! You have more patience than I do, that's for sure.

I think I just recorded about half of CD5 and, hopefully, the start of CD1, which I am missing from my previous attempts. If true, this means I have a very long wait for the loop to cycle through to the start of CD5. :(

I can honestly say Fort Wilderness is killing me, and I haven't even made it past Pioneer Hall and Fort Marina yet to check other areas of the resort.

First some good news. As I suspected, I recorded half of CD5 and then the missing songs from CD1. So, as of right now, I have reference recordings for four full CDs and about half of the fifth CD. I should be able to get the rest, and confirm the entire loop, around noon when the loop cycles to where my CD4 recording stops.

Since I have three hours to wait, I walked down to Fort Marina to see if the music is still skipping. I was here a few months ago and was able to capture and put an almost complete playlist together. As I walked towards the speakers, hoiwever, I didn't recognize the music that was playing. In addition, the music is skipping a lot. I tagged a few songs and compared them to my prior playlist. Of course, all of the songs are different. The loop playing now seems to be mostly western film scores. I'll make a reference recording, at least for a few hours, unless the loop repeats. I don't know if this is a new loop or part of the loop I already recorded. My previous recording went for about two hours and 20 minutes and there was a clear repeat of the loop (close to 20 minutes worth). However, given the weird things that have happened here and at Port Orleans, nothing woud surprise me at this point.

Anyone coming to Pioneer Hall today?

What, the fact that the Marina music has changed, or the fact that I went to Pioneer Hall again and spent a good 6 1/2 hours there? :D

The loop is now six and a half hours long? You're lucky you got the Beach Club loop done. Remember, there's still the Settlement Trading Post. But hey, it could be worse - FW could have six and a half hours of Y&B Club music.

I'm putting it all together now. The loop isn't 6 1/2 hours long. I arrived around 6:55 this morning and the first song I tagged was not in my previous recordings. I ended up recording the last half of CD5 and the first half of CD1. Since I needed the first half of CD5 to finish, I had to wait for the loop to cycle through, which took about 3 1/2 hours from that point. Thus, in order to get what I needed, I was at Pioneer hall until around 1:30. There was no way I was leaving without getting all of it. :)

The Beach Club was a piece of cake. Two hours and I was done (plus I had a place to actually sit down).

Remember, there's still the Settlement Trading Post. But hey, it could be worse - FW could have six and a half hours of Y&B Club music.

Please don't remind me what I have left. It was hard enough to find out I have to do the Marina all over again. In fact, I recorded for 2 hours and 40 minutes this morning and I don't think I have it all.

You know what's going to happen. On my next visit to Pioneer Hall, after finally completing this project after numerous attempts and hours wasted, I'll notice the loop has been changed. :D

Or even worse... six and a half hours of Mickey Hart! :p

I look forward to finding more Mickey Hart music in the various Star Wars Weekend music loops. :D "Live long and prosper..." Oh, wait, wrong movie. "May the force be with you..."
