Disneyland Forever--Back???!!!

The Disneyland Source (http://disneylandsource.com) aquired Disneylandforever.com last week. (It amazingly became available by somebody who was basically squating it for awhile).

We're not entirely sure what we're going to do with the domain. (Disney, wanna buy it?) but if Disneyland Forever does indeed return, I'd like it to be an easy to use resource for track (NOT distribution) information.

Needless to say, if this comes about, we'll need some die-hard people to collect and manage the track information, and my trips to the park are on a yearly basis at the moment.

For now, it's just pointing to a page on the Disneylandsource.com server.

(I was curious to see if other people were typing in this domain, just like me).

Jim, depending on what operating system you're running, MS is going to be releasing WM9 (Windows Media Player 9) for Mac in the next few weeks.

Also, I'm sure these will end up in MP3 format and should be making the "usual rounds" soon.

Hey, I stopped by 20th Century Music today and asked, and the CM there had not heard anything about bringing the Disneyland Forever kiosks back. :( So if they are coming back, I don't think it's soon.

Yeah but the onstage, non-managerial CMs are usually the last to know an awful lot of stuff. So I wouldn't necessarily use that as a clue, yknow?

Yes, I wouldn't trust the CM's in that store for anything. I've had several instances where they knew absolutely nothing about what was coming, or even what was currently in the store.

I had one cast member treat me like I was stupid because I said that Disneyland had had Believe...in Holiday Magic the previous year and it snowed on Main Street. He assured me that it hadn't and it was debuting for the first time. I don't think he even knew that the Holiday CD was released the previous year...

True, true. :) I was just thinking that if it was coming at least in the next few weeks, they would have heard about it in terms of having it installed. I dunno, when I worked in merchandise and there was a big reset, we knew about it like a week in advance. But that was just my area, I dunno about others. :)

There are a couple CM's in the music shop that keep up on the latest rumors, if not the actual facts, but nowadays your lucky if the CM in the shop has ever been there before. The whole idea of being familiar with a particular area goes right out the window, especially in the specialty shops for some reason. We have to make sure that the CM's in the Emporium and the Pooh shop are there all the time but we can stick some newbie fresh off training into the music shop. Makes no sense.

The new system will not be in place until late in October or early in November.

Those who have expressed interest in the Golden Horsehoe Revue LP will be happy to discover that for $15 one will be able to purchase a remaster of that particular older title.

Last time I checked, the re-issue program was not going to be called Disneyland Forever.

Being a WDW frequenter, has anyone heard if a CD system is in the works for WDW as well?

Audio material other than park music/audio will be available? Old LP's like the Golden Horseshoe Review will be in the system??? Better charge up the defibrillator for me!!!

Please, please, please, please let a recording of one of the Haunted Mansion LPs be available on the new (still rumored??) system. ;D

Re:HM LP

Hi Bill,

For me it's more a nostalgic thing. We (my brother and sister and I) had two Disney Halloween-type LPs: The orange cover HM LP (sound effects) and the Donald Duck Trick or Treat/Ron Howard HM walk-through LP. It's the latter that I wouldn't mind making room for on my CD shelf. :) Mostly for the walk-through narration. (I have misplaced my Disney Store audio cassette version of this I bought a few years back. :( )

Attraction audio will not be available on the new CDR delivery system. The sole purpose of the enterprise is to offer re-mastered editions of titles originally issued on vinyl.

These include the Haunted Mansion Storyteller LP as well as dozens of other park-related albums.

The hope was to have a system in place at WDW soon after first being put to use at Disneyland. I'm not certain if that is still the case.

Hello,
Wouldn't it be great if the used the system to re-issue all those great Disneyland LPs restored? Maybe 40 CDs or so at first? In a month or two from now? Then it would be great if they released about 20 more every month after that. They should include some Disneyland attraction LPs along with some rare recent CDs such as Disney Afternoon, Vault Disney, even the now mostly-out-of-print classic soundtrack. It would also be great if they eventually re-issued all the great Disneyland Forever music but as whole CDs and not individual tracks? Here's hopping...

I think that would be cool. I know it's possible in theory but, red-taped to death - that disney would release all their ride-thrus and loops. Opening the catalogue and making a fortune as well. Wouldn't you be buying every loop and attraction album they released? I'm there. Imagine, imagine disney actually paying off those who say they deserve a piece of the pie. That selfishness would be set aside for the sake of the material. Disney would have a profitable venture. It generates new loops and material often. Shows, loops, attractions remastered, new loading/unloading spiels, new attraction spiels as the park changes, built ride-thrus and even the many coin-op games that disney built which had their own music written and played. It is more than just loops, a gold mine for the taking by disney. When they opened the kiosks, I stepped onto a plane, went and bought them. Not much later, a second wave hit. I boarded a plane and went. C'mon disney, give me a reason to spend, spend, spend.

Hi Bill,
Yes, the Disney Stores would be a nice venue, but I can't imagine they would spend all that money putting machines in every store. Let's just hope they at least put them at Disneyland. That would be a good start. And if it proves profitable, they could even sell them on-line! Here's hopping... ;)

I was at the San Francisco Disney Store Saturday and can't imagine them putting ANYTHING interesting into this ignored and dying franchise. Unless its more "princess" stuff. Sure makes me sad. :'(

The Disney Store at Downtown Disney is still great though. :D Bring on the music stations!!!!

Uh guys.. this is the Walt Disney COMPANY we are talking about. You know the same folks that has brought us that neat 45th year celebration parade that continues to run into its 3rd year.. and that great tortilla factory at DCA..
I could go on (and often do) but you get my drift.

I imagine that this idea has sprung from .."Well now that we have these cool machines that Red Dot has left us with, what prepacked items do we have on the shelf to use these cd makers?"

I just am hoping for 10 to 20 selections (maybe even just the Archive collection) I wouldn't look for a rush of new product.

The RedDotNet era kiosk machines were sold off long ago...

Everything intended for the new system has been remastered from the best existing source material. Much as been remixed, as well. Nothing came "off the shelf."

If all goes as expected, nearly one hundred currently unavailable titles will be offered for purchase by February of next year.
