I guess I'll have to do without it then. I'm just not ready to add more software that could mess up my machine later on. :(

I guess it is the political side of making a quick buck that has Disney sell this way - compressed and lossy, but with DRM - and getting rid of costly Wonderland machinery (that didn't work the way they should - they gave up on the ordering by the system and had the CM's write it down on scraps of paper instead, for people would order and leave without paying).

Just like the bare-bones DVDs of some of the films that had a lot of material actually prepared for them, and which were issued in extremely bad compression, just to save a little money, when they appeared 'For the First Time on Disney-DVD'.

Just like they get rid of creative people (see e.g.: WD Collectibles), and outsource at lowest cost (see WDI and Disneyland) to make the bean counters happy - they can more easily measure Money Out against Money In.

The pertinent question will be: if selling reduced quality audio this way is a financial success, will they EVER go back to issuing any lossless 'archive' audio? Well, MAYBE if that system has foolproof DRM, and is cheap to set up. For them. So the EVP of WDR can show good results so he can get a higher paid job next year.

The ONLY hope we can have is that there are people left at the source who love this stuff (Randy), and who keep pushing for quality. And if we really want to use iTunes (I really don't), then we must compare it to the LPs and what have you, so if the compression is obvious and bad, we can then react and complain.
