Wishes CD

My parents were able to grab me a copy of the new Wishes CD at WDW last week and I have listened to it a few times. I have yet to see the new fireworks show but parts of the CD remind me of Fantasmic. My parents said the crowd broke out into loud applause after the fireworks and it sounds like it is very cool

IMHO, these are the 2nd best fireworks I've ever seen. Just one step down from Believe at Disneyland.

BTW, I found the CD today. AND Home on The Range. Both at MGM AND at WOD.

Grr ... I'll have to pick it up through e-bay once again as ordering from WDW mailorder is unbelievable expensive in regards of their shipping fees if you need to deliver it to Europe, especially as there is nothing else I need right now from WDW, so that in the end shipping would be roughly twice as much as the CD :-[

Regarding the fireworks itself: I think they are impressive but yes, they are a notch below Believe. My personal main problem with Wishes is that the whole actuion brakes down every now and then when it was in an epsecially perfect flow for some dialog by characters. I read somewhere (don't remember where so) that they had planed to have some projections or laser effects to bring the characters to life during the dialog. I think this would have greatly helped as right now for me these are rather akward moments.

Is the CD soundtrack including this dialog or is it just the music?? On the other hand: why do I ask, I'm going to buy it anyway...

I don't remember where I heard it, but I heard they were going to have characters in Wishes. ie, Genie, Blue Fairy, Jiminy Cricket, Mickey Mouse, etc. characters walking somewhere outside the castle during their respective dialogue. But that the idea got tossed because it would be too confusing to guests?!??!?!

Great--it'll be awaiting us when we arrive at WDW next week!

Was any original music composed for the show, or is it a compilation of previously released material?

FYI, they ran out of copies at the MK shops Monday last week, where I thought I could pick up a copy. The CMs said they had just two copies left that day, and they were sold. I felt really bad thinking I'd have to mail-order. Turns out the All-Stars Sports where I was staying had 15 copies. By the end of the week, there were lots of copies everywhere. Is Believe still running? Haven't been to DL in years, and I haven't seen it. My wife had one chance one night a couple of years ago to see it, but it was so rainy the show was cancelled.

I thought it was nice of them to include the Wishes exit song on the CD. It will give me fond memories of the sardine-packed spring-break crowd trying to get out of the park after the fireworks. Even if it is a only a #2, the whole family enjoyed it so much, we came back 3 nights during our short stay to see it. It was also nice that the trees at the hub were cut to allow an unobscured view.

For the pmost part, I like the hub without the blinky trees...it makes the spaces feel SO much bigger...but I miss the twinkling lights at nighttime.

Someone asked this earlier but I don't think it was answered: Does the Wishes CD have the dialogue that is heard in the park or the one from the press kit (i.e. "See what a little wishing can do?" vs "What they can't do these days.")

Thanks! :)

Quick scan of the CD insert - except for the Wishes theme itself, and a short segment on Track 7 called "Witch's Underscore", both composed by "G Smith", the rest are songs from Disney animated features.

I've never heard the press kit version, but on the CD, JC says "What they can't do these days".

Yup! It just started back up for the season on April 2. It'll run daily for a couple of weeks (Spring Break) before cutting back until summer. I think there's a couople of new effects in there (at least ones I don't remember from before) - the show's as great as ever!
