WDW Splash Mountain Loop Question (Not Request)

I've heard the tale about the 10 WDWF tracks, and the 16 unreleased ones. However, I am still confused. I went and checked my SM queue audio and found 14 tracks. Note, this is not including the less-superior Disneyland classical version tracks. These are the bluegrass banjo tracks.

Note that Disneymusicloops has 44 tracks, and says they were all released on WDWF. Are the Uncle Remus Said, Song of the South, and Carriage Ride WDWF files (among the other more classical sounding ones) playing in the WDW queue?

Also, what is the "Splash Mountain Indoor and Outdoor Queue Audio"? It sounds like the music loop with squeaky little groundhog voices on top of that. Where does this play in the queue? Is it longer than 10 minutes long?

On top of that, who even records these tracks anyway? Is it Sawdust (The Imagineering Group that records Frontier-ish music)?

I knew that request SM audio would involve a butt-whipping (not whooping, whipping), but would love to see it surface.

Thanks.

It's the other way around; 16 WDWF tracks and 10 unreleased tracks.

Remember, there are "blue-grass" type recordings that were released on the WDWF system, but not used in WDW. Some (perhaps all, I haven't checked) are/were used in TDL. Regardless of what Disneymusicloops states, the current version of the loop does not include 44 tracks. While I cannot be 100% certain, my research indicates that the Splash Mountain loop has not changed since its inception.

Song of the South and What Uncle Remus Said, while included in the loop, are not the versions released on WDWF. No version of Carriage Ride is included in the loop.

I believe the Indoor/Outdoor queue audio plays around the "critter" houses in the queue line. But I haven't waited in line for a few years, so I haven't confirmed whether this track, and the ambient music track, actually plays in the WDW queue.

This listing should be accurate.

edit: Thanks to Horizons' other post, at least partly :'(

Thanks again.

So to reiterate, the "Uncle Remus" etc. tracks are NOT the same in Disneyland and WDW?

The DL and WDW queue versions are completely different. No songs are the same versions (some do have the same titles).

Is that what you are asking?

OK I know this original post is almost a year old (so many forums, so little time) but I thought I'd answer the questions anyway.

Any audio track with squeaky little groundhog voices was played back out if the tiny houses seen in the trees in the queue line area of WDW Splash. I don't remember how long the loops were (sorry it's been 18 years since they were recorded) but 10 minutes sounds about right.

The WDW/TDL queue line audio tracks were recorded over a two week period in Nashville, Tennessee during the month of February 1991. The musicians were all professional session guys who can be heard on just about every country album recorded over the last 18 years. The WDI group "Sawdust" may have recorded some music for use in the parks later on but my only time spent with them was for the picture on page 131 in the "Imagineering" book.

Thanks for the info. The bluegrass WDW SM tracks remain among my favorite and most-listened-to songs.

Would you know of any particular reasons why Disney did not release the other 10 unreleased tracks, or rather why there are tons of other WDWF tracks that were never used?

Sorry, I don't have any inside knowledge of why certain tracks are or are not released or why certain tracks are never used. Many times it simply comes down to not being able to find all the audio for a given attraction in the huge data base of material that Disney keeps archived.

I think I remember hearing about those. Don Carson, an Imagineer who helped design the attraction, was also a concertina player. He was supposed to play "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah," but he always kept messing up while recording. He used his track and dubbed groundhog voices over it to sound like the groundhog papa was practicing the "squeezebox".

I like this track, and have been listening endlessly, I wish there was a way to edit out the sound efx and bring the background music up and leveled, because, about 3-4 of the Unreleased songs are used in this soundtrack piece!! I have only tagged and titled some songs used in this track alone.....

1. The first song u hear on the start of the track is "John Henry"!! Its available, and is a WDWF track, but IS NOT used in WDW's Splash Loop at all. In fact its a song used in TDL's Loop.

2. The 2nd song, during Papa playing squeezebox, is one of the Unreleased tracks "How Do Ya' Do"!! It is used in TDL/WDW Loops.

3. The 3rd song, about halfway through-3/4's is also an Unreleased track "Ev'rybody Has A Laughin' Place", the song is played where u hear the birds, crickets, toads and frogs. The song is used in both TDL/WDW Loops.

4. The 4th and final song I have knoticed is yet another Unreleased track "That's What Uncle Remus Said", which fits well with Brer Frogs spiels played in the foreground. And is used in again, both TDL/WDW Loops.

So now this makes me wonder and ask this question, could this loop possibly be used at both WDW and TDL???? There is another song used in the track, that I have not yet identified, it comes during the snoring critters scene, just before Laughin' Place begins on the track!!!

Just thought I would add to this, as not just me, but a few others are on the hunt for the 10 Unreleased songs, I have all the WDW Forever songs used in both TDL/WDW Loops, but still continuing and not giving up for the 10 missing songs!!

Do you have any information as to which songs were recorded during these sessions? One project that I've been working on is the the Garden Grill area music loop. Most of the songs used in this loop are the same, or similar in musical style, to music used at the various Big Thunder Mountain attractions in the Disney parks. However, some of the songs do not appear to have been used anywhere and I am curious as to the source of these tracks.

I am only aware of you and one other person asking about this (with great frequency).

I'm sure at some point, the music will surface for you. Of course, a recording of this is fairly easy to make, depending on your tolerance for standing in one spot for 61 minutes, in plan view of guests and castmembers. Alternatively, take a visit to the companion restroom as you exit the attraction. You can lock the door and there is a nice speaker in the ceiling playing the music.

Yes we used some of the out-takes, rehearsals and false starts from the Nashville sessions as well. The more we listened to these the funnier they sounded so Mark Rhodes (show writer) wrote a series of vignettes and we recorded the voices for them. I did some "chipmunk" processing, mixed it and they were done. I don't remember if we told Don that we were going to use his out-takes but his concertina playing was the inspiration for those loops.
