WDW DVD

Hello all!

I know that previously there was a discussion about the new Park DVDs from DL and WDW. I remember the discussion about the DL DVD but I was hoping that someone could 'remind' me what was on the WDW DVD. It seems like someone mentioned that the Walt Disney Story was on the DVD.

Thanks for your help!

I have the new WDW 100 Years of Magic DVD and although I enjoyed it, it is simply a vacation type presentation. The DVD does have the Walt Disney Story, which is very good.

Leesa,

Was the "Walt Disney Story" presented in its original aspect ratio on the DVD? Did it include the original introduction (with the little boy joining the band and not being able to play)? Thanks in advance!

A problem with the WDW DVD is some of the footage is from DL rides (Jungle Cruise) which appear different in WDW.

Even It's a Small World is from DL.
Actually a lot of the footage is really old. I have assorted WDW souvenir
and promotional videos from about 1980 and they have reused, and reused clips
over the years, including on this DVD. For example the boats in The Land are still the
original ones. The double-decker buses still run around World Showcase. I don't know
why I collect all these videos, but I do.

To Wedroy1923,
The Walt Disney story is in the original aspect ratio, however it does not include the original
introduction you described. The first track on the DVD is the photo album title.

Is there any footage from CBJ or CoP? If so, which bears, humans...lol...etc...and for how long? I am very interested in this DVD... ;)

Hello!
I'm new to this board (this is my first post!) and a loooooong time Disney music lover!
Is this Disney World DVD something that is only available in the Parks?
Is it available at the Disney Store, or by phone, like the normal vacation videos?
Any more detailed information will be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Griz, sorry, there is no CoP on this DVD (something to do with it being only a seasonal attraction now ???), and CBJ is the old 20 second clip found on the last 10 years worth of souvenir videos. I'm sure the home videos you took of both attractions are better than anything Disney put on video tape.

I don't have the Disney SKU since it was attached to the plastic shrink wrap. The WDW mail order people can probably look it up as the 100 Years of Magic souvenir DVD.

Hiya Keith!

Sorry, I gotta disagree. It seems to me they tried to make it OAR, but that some of the sides are STILL cut off.

The following quote is from the Widen Your World website:

==The Walt Disney Story was projected through a special anamorphic lens which enabled a screen proportion of 2.67 to 1. This allowed for the
unique scrapbook effect (seen above) used extensively in the film, where as many as three different films would be running side-by-side as part
of the same scene. The soundtrack was scored by longtime Disney composer Buddy Baker, and included his haunting WDW theme used often
during the resort's first ten years. ==

I don't think they could cram it all on our 4:3 TV sets without making it a very small strip, indeed. It IS, however, VERY CLOSE to OAR.

you are right. 2.76:1 would be a little rough on the eyes unless you have a widescreen tv. thanx for the correction. at least they gave it the ol' college try. ;D

I have a friend who will be going to Disney World in a few weeks.

Can anyone tell me in which shops he can go to get this great sounding DVD for me?

Thanks!

Gaysnappercarr-

They definitely sell it at World of Disney, which is the HUGE Disney merchandise store in the Downtown Disney Marketplace (formerly known as the Disney Village Marketplace, formerly known as the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Plaza ).

As Sharon said they sell the DVD in World of Disney and it seems at all Resort Gift Shops as well and in most of the shops I was in at all the theme parks. Don't worry you won't have trouble finding it. ;)
