WDW Christmas Observations

Having done a whirlwind holiday tour of the parks, I just had a few observations:

* It's disappointing that they don't do the tree-lighting ceremony at Epcot anymore. The little character show was very cute. I wonder, though, if they felt it was too similar to the MK castle-lighting show in places (the characters squabbling over how to light the tree/decorate the castle).

* Also at Epcot, I think I heard a new song in the Lights of Winter loop. It's sort of "between the loop" -- after the final song, but before it kicks off again. The lights and fountain don't perform during it; it's like a breather. I had never noticed that before.

* At DAK, Jingle Jungle Parade kicks the regular parade's butt. Nothing too complicated about the holiday overlay, but -- wow -- what a difference. Fun, fun, fun.

* Still don't like the Once Upon a Christmastime parade at MK. Too much zone-overlapping and since most of it involves snippets of carols, they all seem to be playing at once. Not nearly as cute as the previous parade. Bring back the young women with the bells!

* When did the Goofy replace the Country Bears in "Celebrate the Season"? He is funny there, but poor Bears: They don't get a holiday overlay for their show anymore, they were replaced by the Fantasia Hippoes in "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and now they're out of CTS!

* Speaking of "Twas," I dig that "Jingle Bells" number that has replaced the "Run, Rudolph, Run" song!

* Finally, at Hollywood Studios, that is a kickin' rock-n-roll Nutcracker Suite that the Osborne lights dance to. Does anyone know if that's available somewhere? I don't think Disney did special recordings for those interludes as Jose Feliciano's "Feliz Navidad" is one of the tracks that plays.

Hope everyone had a happy holiday, no matter what you celebrate this time of year, and Happy New Year to all!

Looks like I'll have to go and make another recording, although I don't think I have it in me to go this year. I wonder when the Christmas music is going to be pulled? If it's still playing over the weekend, maybe I'll go then.

I really disliked the parade the first few times I saw it. But now I am addicted to the music. Yes, bring back the women with the bells!

This show is a snooze fest for me.

All needle drop tracks, but I didn't make a playlist.

That's what you call a little Administrator magic.

Lots more to come...

Thank you, Jay! I'll be buying that for sure. I had been online searching all kinds of crazy stuff and couldn't come up with the right version. I surely appreciate it! Forums look great!

Always a problem. I'm still looking for the correct versions of several songs in playlists that are in progress (the DHS Main Entrance loop comes to mind as one that is causing me problems).

You must be one of those nuts who actually want to purchase the correct version.

Cool! How did you make the link work? Is it just the normal link function?
That's what you call a little Administrator magic.
So that no one is feeling left out on the fun...

I have just finished creating a custom [amazon] BB code tag for easily inserting links to Amazon products into message posts and blog entries.

You should now see an 'Insert: Amazon Link' choice in the message editor's 'Quick Access' list of BB codes.

To insert a link you need to know the unique ASIN or ISBN for the product that you want to link to.

The format for using the [amazon] tag is as follows:

[amaz0n=1234567890]Click me![/amaz0n]

Where '1234567890' equals the ASIN or ISBN and 'Click me!' is the title of your link.

Very easy to use. Now, is there a way to insert iTunes links just as easy?
Unfortunately, no, as the iTMS doesn't have anything comparable to an ASIN.

iTMS links appear to have three different identifiers: i=123456789; id=123456789; and s=123456.

I don't know that Apple offers any scripts/support for creating a pop-up window filled with cover art, etc., when hovering your mouse over a link, either.

There is a function for iTunes to create a link to a certain song. However, it wasn't working properly this morning (and isn't the easiest thing to use, compared to Amazon links).

Yes, I know. You can use the iTunes Link Maker or you can just right click on one of the arrows next to the album or song that you want to link to while browsing the iTunes Store within iTunes. Not as easy as typing in a single ASIN or ISBN. And, again, no support for the cool pop-up windows.

I wasn't aware of this option and it works much better. I couldn't get the link maker to work for me.
