Having done a whirlwind holiday tour of the parks, I just had a few observations:
* It's disappointing that they don't do the tree-lighting ceremony at Epcot anymore. The little character show was very cute. I wonder, though, if they felt it was too similar to the MK castle-lighting show in places (the characters squabbling over how to light the tree/decorate the castle).
* Also at Epcot, I think I heard a new song in the Lights of Winter loop. It's sort of "between the loop" -- after the final song, but before it kicks off again. The lights and fountain don't perform during it; it's like a breather. I had never noticed that before.
* At DAK, Jingle Jungle Parade kicks the regular parade's butt. Nothing too complicated about the holiday overlay, but -- wow -- what a difference. Fun, fun, fun.
* Still don't like the Once Upon a Christmastime parade at MK. Too much zone-overlapping and since most of it involves snippets of carols, they all seem to be playing at once. Not nearly as cute as the previous parade. Bring back the young women with the bells!
* When did the Goofy replace the Country Bears in "Celebrate the Season"? He is funny there, but poor Bears: They don't get a holiday overlay for their show anymore, they were replaced by the Fantasia Hippoes in "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and now they're out of CTS!
* Speaking of "Twas," I dig that "Jingle Bells" number that has replaced the "Run, Rudolph, Run" song!
* Finally, at Hollywood Studios, that is a kickin' rock-n-roll Nutcracker Suite that the Osborne lights dance to. Does anyone know if that's available somewhere? I don't think Disney did special recordings for those interludes as Jose Feliciano's "Feliz Navidad" is one of the tracks that plays.
Hope everyone had a happy holiday, no matter what you celebrate this time of year, and Happy New Year to all!
