Top Five Disney parades Ever!!!!

Shane: IASW remained in WDW's original run of MSEP from opening night in '77 to it's final bow in 91 at wich point it moved to DLP & somehow caught on fire :-[ DL on the other hand said goodbye to IASW following the spring of '83 (MSEP ran from April to June that year. It was then reported as being sent to Tokyo but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Thanks Dirk - that was a big "Duh!" moment for me - I knew that parade was called something else, but I didn't feel like digging my CD out to look. I love that song, and "Dancin' (A Catchy Rhythm)" from the Wonderful World of Disney Parade (which I never saw, but have on CD). DLP has great "techno-beat" songs that are great for parades, and fun to sing along with at home. I only wish I had been able to spend more than a day at DLP to fully enjoy the park (and the parade!).

Danny,

I used to really like the IASW floats in MSEP, maybe because they pretty faithfully recreated the attraction's essence. Probably more so because I liked the way they wrote the theme to mix w/ Baroque Hoedown. I missed seeing and hearing it all those years @ DL until we went to WDW that first time in '89 and it was great to see it again one last time. Unfortunately, I didn't make it back to WDW again until after SpectroMagic had debuted.

PS: it's a shame what ended up happening to the IASW floats in Paris. Do you know what ever became of the DL units that went to TDL? Did they simply dismantle and retire them or were they somehow refit for Fantillusion and/or Dreamlights?

Dirk: i'm afraid I don't have any more info on that I MEANT tosay it either caught fire or was somehow sent to Tokyo. but even THAT doesn't make sense as TDL suppposedly had DL's IASW units although the dolls that were on the push carts were actually on other floats in the TDL version.

Hi Danny-

Yep, sure did! I'm not used to the opening shpiel (I'm too accustomed to it being called "The Main Street Electrical Parade" for all those years) but other than that, it was VERY nice to see an old friend ...even in such a strange place .

Incidentally, I have to admit that I still like DL's Fantasmic much better than WDW's and in fact, I like Fantasmic better than MSEP in general (seeing MSEP gives me the chills, but seeing Fantasmic brings tears to my eyes ).

My fingers are crossed VERY tightly that Dream Lights will still be running in the spring of 2004! That's when we're planning on going back to TDL.

Sharon I can 110 % GUARANTEE that Dreamlights will STILL be @ TDL in 2004 I mean face it, TDLEP ran for 10 years & Fantillusion 6, I seriously doubt they would pull the plug on something so popular after only 3 years.

Danny-

I figured it would be, if for no other reason than its being SO popular (we've looked at the TDL web site and they sell "After 6pm" tickets JUST so people can go see the parade?!?!). But I'll keep my fingers crosed JUST in case .

(who is already starting to save money for ALL the TDL CD's she still needs to get and wonders why we don't have as many CD's here in the States...)

Sharon,I agree w/ you all thew way w/ the soundtracks issue. I just hope that DL & WDW will wake up & smell the coffee so Randy can work his magic once again.

It was just a rhetorical questions, danny . Disney in Japan caters to the people with higher tastes. Disney in the US caters to everyone else .

HI Dave,

too sad you never saw the Aladdin Parade - it was really great. But if you are a big Hunchbak fan I hope you were able to see the fireworks in 1997 at Disneyland Paris! They run only for that year and featured a complete symphonic recording of a suite based on the hunchback of Notre Dam score and songs created especially for that fireworks display! I still think t was the best firework show they ever did in Paris and that soundtrack .... incredible! Unfortunately they never released it and I have yet to find any recording at all
:-(

Yours
Dirk
