I recently returned from three nights at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park and one thing that struck me was how well the Wilderness Lodge compares to the real thing: the public rooms are magnificent and the guest rooms are small and expensive.
But the one major difference inside the hotel was that there was no general background music. In fact the only music being played at all was in the bar in the evenings and that was Gershwin and Porter-- genteel drinking music.
Apparently you don't need to evoke feelings with music when you can step outside and see true natural wonders. But what I find most interesting is how well Disney is able to replicate those feelings in the Lodge through music. I'm sure that's no surprise to anyone who frequents this message board but it still makes me smile.
--- Now let's discuss why bottled water is only $1.25 in Yosemite.
