Storybook Land Canal Boats [DL]

Storybook Canal

I'm a little surprised no one has Frankensteined a loop for this attraction. I haven't ridden the DL version in years, but the DLP version is culled from the soundtracks of the film with, I believe, one exception: For some reason, there is a model of the Emerald City and as you float by it, the Return to Oz track from the DL Fantasmic version of the MSEP is playing.

Is the Disneyland version also a composite of soundtracks?

Re:Storybook Canal

The Disneyland version also uses stuff from the films and I think whenever possible it's needledrop stuff. The only thing that would be hard to find would be something for Mr Toad but I'm sure something could be lifted from the DVD.

The real musical Gem of DL's Storybookland is the Area or Queue Loop. It's composed of new arrangements from some of the films:

01. Second Star to the Right
02. Snow White Medley
03. Babes in Toyland Medley
04. Sleeping Beauty Medley
05.Darby O'Gill and the Little People

And I believe #6 should be Cinderella but I haven't verified that. The Babes in Toyland and Darby OGill are great though, just because they're so obscure. It's surprising that they used those at all considering all the other films that could have been used. And I believe (but someone feel free to correct me) that this loop was done for the 1983 Fantasyland Rehab. Prior to that I have no idea what music was used.

Re:Storybook Canal

Any Storybook Land recording would be incomplete without the instrumental of "A Whole New World". This is played as the bost passes the Casey Junior train.

Hi all,

I was hoping that someone might have information and/or access to this muisc loop decribed at the Disney Music Loops site:

Track Title
1 Second Star to the Right
2 Snow White Medley
3 Babes in Toyland Medley
4 Sleeping Beauty Medley

I am guessing it is not available since I have never seen it on Rodentsections or any those types of sites, but I just wanted to see; you never know.

Thanks.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

This music can all be found elsewhere, for example, the Babes in Toyland Overture is the same as the Overture on the 1961 musical score album for Babes in Toyland, which is available on ITunes.

Hi.

Can you tell me more. I just am not sure what the various music is as I have never really heard the loop itself clearly. For instance, as you state, The Babes in Toyland Medley is apparently the Babes in Toyland Overture from the muscial. Well, heck I have that on the DVD. But what about the other items? I have no idea. Obviously if they all are commercially available, then that is where to get the music to make up the loop; and I am not sugesting otherwise. But in this case, I am totally in the dark, except for this one item that you have now pointed out to me. It just seems that so much was originally recorded for the rides at Disneyland. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks for your post and
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The Babes in Toyland album is not the same version of music that was in the film. All the music was redone for the album release, and is quite different than what is heard in the actual movie. Therefore, the version heard at Disneyland in the Storybook Land queue is not what is heard in the film, but what is heard on the album only. The album is available on iTunes. I believe the Sleeping Beauty Overture is the Overture as it was released on the 1959 Soundtrack Album, which varies slightly from the movie, but is very close with only slight variations. The 1959 soundtrack is not to be confused with the more recent soundtrack that was produced by Randy Thornton. Both versions of the Sleeping Beauty Soundtrack are available on iTunes. As for the Snow White Overture, I think this was a re-orchestration of the musical score composed by Camarata and released on an album produced in the 1960s. I think this is not yet available on iTunes. The Second Star to the Right I think is from the original soundtrack of Peter Pan, which can be found on iTunes. The only place this music is heard is from the queue of Storybook Land, the music comes from speakers placed on the other side of the moat under the Storybook Land floral design. It is played very quietly and is easy to miss if you are not paying attention. Also, it is nearly impossible to try to record this because of the inaccessible location of the speakers.

Is might be the same as on the BV3319 album? You can listen to it here on the "Ears" Record Player to see if it is the same version.

Hello all.

I was at Disneyland on Saturday and noticed very distinct queue music at the Storybook Land Canal Boats. I was wondering if any one else has noticed a change there or perhaps I may just have always been there in the past when the music was not discernable.

Anyway, it was interesting to hear something clearly playing in the queue and surrounding area that I had never heard before. This is one of the areas of the park where I have never been able to locate any available music.
