Star Tours: The Adventure Continues

[Forever Magic II]

I went to FINALLY experience the new Star Tours last night, quite amazing. I waited a good 40mins and the queue was wrapped around the Ewok Village/Forest queue to the right of the entrance. As I was waiting I expected to hear the Ewok loop that Horizons has mentioned before, guess what....The loop was gone . Instead I heard music from the Star Wars films. I did notice the Asteroid scene from Empire Strikes Back as well as many others, but I decided to shazam the audio and see if the albums were from the original cds, or if they came from remasters.


I got one song and it seems I have this album that it came off of.....

Leia Breaks the News/Funeral Pyre for a Jedi.

The album is called Star Wars Trilogy:The Original Soundtrack Anthology. This 4-discs collectors edition was released in 1993 and is the remastered versions of the music from A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. As well as the 4th disc containing unreleased/unused and film versions of the original scores.

Just thought I would share some info on this BGM since, it is one on my list of Area Musics (among many others).

As I was waiting I expected to hear the Ewok loop that Horizons has mentioned before, guess what....The loop was gone .

I haven't heard it play in a number of years. But when it did play, it was generally around dusk when it was turned on.

Instead I heard music from the Star Wars films.

This has been the same for a number of years. What I don't know at this point is whether what was/is playing recently is the same as the original loop, or, rather, was updated at some point.

I wish I could have gotten a reference recording, I found a good speaker in the shrubs, where I shazamed, but it was loud and noisy with all the guests chatter and the jedi training academy show going on.

Horizons, any chance, you said you have reference to the original 3 loops, any chance could I try my hand at finding the tracks and edits using shazam and audacity to match of the songs as I find them, I would really like to hear the loops and compile a list for you. I wanna contribute to the site a little, I will give you credit for your references. Please!?

The recordings are rough and one may be the loop heard on the exterior of the building, by the gift shop, which I previously determined was just the exit music from the attraction (which is heard in the exit hallway and gift shop).

I have on my list to try and determine the playlist for the exterior loop, but I need a current reference recording to see if the two recordings are the same. Also, on a prior visit to the gift shop before the attraction opened again, I noticed the music had been changed, possibly to match the exterior loop. When I get around to doing this, I'll post the playlist. Feel free to make a recording of what's currently being used and make a playlist. Since I don't have anything, this would be very useful.

This morning, I went to record the radio show that plays 15 minutes before the park opens, as well as the Stormtrooper loop that follows. My plan was to arrive at the main entrance 30 minutes before the park opened. I checked the hours on the website and with a stated opening time of 9:00am and no extra magic hours, I arrived at 8:30. Of course, the park was already open and the radio show was past. I spoke to a castmember and apparently Disney has been opening early, at 8:00am, so the radio show plays at 7:45am.

So I wasted the one shot I had to record it based on inaccurate info. Thanks Disney...

I feel for you. I've had similar things happen to me.
It's so annoying when you do all the right things and they do something else without telling anyone> I've actually asked at reception in high season for a closing time for a (non-bookable) restaurant and at the restaurant itself at 2.30pm and been told 8:00pm closing tonight - only to arrive at 4:45pm - planned early tea so as to fit in with a special event - to find the thing closed! They said they had closed at 4:00!
Not on a par with your experience I know but the frustration is similar. By the time we found somewhere still open/affordable/had food I could eat without the need for a seltzer, we missed the event. Well, the place was packed as others had closed early due to lack of custom. :angry:

This has been happening alot lately, man. I hear it all the time while working at Space Mountain. People say "tonight is Magic Hours from 12-3am, correct". I double check my cast member guide for times of the parks and find nothing. It's usually scheduled a day too early or a day too late then what was posted on the main site.

Well my plans for doing a reference recording for Star Tours BGM Loop this week has been scrapped, due to an unexpected passing of my loving grandmother . So I am putting in for a 7-day leave from disney to fly home to New Jersey for the funeral and staying with my girlfriend. Bummer !!

I changed my plans and went to DHS to record various things. Getting here at 7:00 assured me that I would not miss out on the radio show. I also walked around and listened to the various loops. While I cannot be 100% sure, because I did not listen to each loop in its entirety, I'm pretty confident none of the loops THX99 and I made playlists for, from prior year recordings, have changed. There are still three loops I don't have a recording of, but I have no interest in getting these today.

I sent THX99 a really rough, and I mean rough, recording of the Darth Vader loop. If he is successful in coming up with a list, and assuming I captured a full recording of the loop, then all recordings will have been sorted and playlists/scripts made. I'll post the information in the next few weeks, most likely here in the forums.

The best part of SWW, in my opinion, is the Stormtrooper "show" at the main entrance. If you ever visit during this time, take the 30 or so minutes, starting 15 minutes prior to park opening, and check it out.

Incredible. While waiting in line at DL, there was no music cue at all. I may be in the minority, but I was very disappointed with the new star tours ride, it was very much like the old star tours, and I thought that they would have made a whole new ride, not just rearrange the old ride, and replace a couple of droids. I did like the new films, but it still gets too hot and stuffy in the vehicle when the doors shut. Need to ride it when there is not a ton of people riding with me. LOL
