Well as some of you may know last night they did CM testing on Space Mtn. If you loved the old Space Mtn you will love this one even more. If you wanted something brand new you will be let down. It is the same attraction but some great new effects and the sounds is only working on some of rockets (just like the old days) but it was intresting.

Ooooo! I am sooo jealous! I do hope they work out the sound issues, though. ::) Nothing was more frustrating than getting a train without music.

That goes ditto for California Screamin'! Why is the audio seen as non-essential enough to put a train out there that isn't functioning properly?

Here's hoping we can all ride the new old Space Mountain soon! :)

The new DLRP was done the same I guess although the whole theming has changed in Paris for Mission2. Is that the case in DL?
I love the Paris music and the new effects are great including the red spiral tunnel at the end.
Any plans for WDW rehab? ;)

Well, it really is a case of "something is better than nothing." Increased capacity & lower wait times are preferable to pulling the train from the track. Although music is a big part of the attraction, it isn't as important as giving as many people as possible a chance to ride. Courtesy comes before Show.

How many times can I use the word "as" in a single sentence? ::) ;D

I will not be as blunt as Mark, but I will agree that the music makes the ride experience so much better. The first time I rode SM with the music I couldn't wait to ride it again. The next time I got to the park and rode it...no music . I personally would not mind a longer wait if I could have it with the music.

On the other hand, I don't know anyone who likes on-board Space Mountain music (any variation). We're always delighted when it isn't working. I guess it takes all kinds.

Hi, Howard Hawks, I'm Rich T. Now you know someone who likes on-board Space Mountain music :).

Of course, without the music, Space Mountain had that wonderful, unique cacophony of echoing screams, rumbles and air brakes. That was great, too. But I think the music does add an element of drama that the ride lacked before, particularly in the lift hill sequence.

I loved the Dick Dale track, and was a bit concerned when I heard it was being replaced. But after listening to the new music on the 50th set, I can't wait to ride the new version. Is it just me, or does the new music remind anyone of Lost in Space (the John Williams TV themes - both of 'em)?

Jerm - Did you notice the music on the lift hills and re-entry tunnel? Those bits aren't included on the CDs, (am I right in assuming they weren't ready in time for the release?) My favorite part of the Dick Dale version was the very end as you made the final turn into the unload area...it was like waking up from a great dream...like the ride was telling you "There, told ya I'd get ya back safe...This time!"

I'm hoping the new version's opening and closing are just as effective!

One month to go! :)

Oh, I totally agree with that. But given the choice between a no-music ride and having no ride at all, the average non-Disneyphile Guest will usually choose the former.

Sorry gang. They gotta keep the capacity up as high as they can!
