Rod Miller

Hey all,

I was hoping someone out in the DL area could give us an update on Rod Miller. The last I had heard he was still gone from the park due to illness. Also, are his albums still available for purchase anywhere? My copies of them recently went kaput.

Thanks,
Tink

Ooooo...didn't know that about Rod Miller. Is he OK? Well, obviously not, if he's gone from work that long...but is it the kind of thing where he'll EVENTUALLY be OK?

Sharon,

I spoke to Rod the last night he worked before his surgery. Seems he needed to have some work done on his back, he said it would be 6 weeks before he could make it back to work. An update on LaughingPlace.com shortly thereafter said the surgery went well.

I'm glad for that too. He was his usual upbeat self that night, and I'm sure he will be when he's done recovering too.

There was another pianist playing his (umpteenth) worn-out Yamaha piano (Rod's a legend for wearing out pianos, he'll usually tell you his current count if you ask) that night at Coke Corner, I've seen him before, (usually pelting Rod with some joke like "Aren't you a little self-conscious watching someone else tickle your ivories? ;)" ) and I'm not sure who the other pianist was. He was good, tho.

If you want to send Rod a card, send it to either his record company (Creative Entertainment Productions, 15068 Rosecrans Ave., PO Box 284, La Mirada, CA 90638) or to Disneyland (1313 S. Harbor Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92802-2398 or you can probably drop it off at City Hall, however Rebekah at LaughingPlace.com said that he probably wouldn't get it till he returns to work).

Keep an eye on the boards and at the piano - I'm sure we'll hear something (Most likely a high-tempo rendition of "It had to be you") soon.

Good to hear about Rod. It's been a few years since I lived in Southern California and could get to DL very often (or everyday for about a three week period in '99) but still to this day my favorite memories involve the Coke Corner and Rod's music.

(And again, a big round of thanks to Derek and 1313 for their help with my "posting" problem.)

Just read on LaughingPlace.com that Rod's just about to return to work next Friday (May 9th), assuming all goes well, and that the recovery has been going quite well.
