Repost: Edit info regarding Disneyland USA DVD

[For some reason, the first time I posted this topic, it didn't work properly... someone want to delete that? :)]

Hello everyone,

I know this doesn't have to do with music, but there has been some DVD discussion in the past. I was wondering if you could help me with some research I'm doing. A while back, I created some custom DVD inserts for personal use to go along with two of the Walt Disney Treasures DVD's (Mickey Mouse in Living Color and Silly Symphonies) because I felt that the inserts that came with these discs were pretty sparse. Using various sources from around the Web, I assembled some informative pieces that compliment these titles for those interested in learning more (if you want to download them yourselves, there are links at the bottom of this post).

Anyway, figuring I might as well do inserts for the other two releases (Disneyland USA and Davy Crockett), I'm starting to gather info on those (at least before the next 3 come out!). However, I need your help! I've started work on the Disneyland USA inserts, but am stumbling on some "edit" information that was brought up when the discs were released.

Specifically, various message boards reported slight modifications to the DVD versions of the shows as compared to versions that had been taped off the Disney Channel. I've tried to gather the info on these edits, but am looking for more information. Here's what I have so far...

DATELINE DISNEYLAND
- Removal of Mouseketeers from parade segment (most likely took place between 21:32-22:40)
- Removal of Mouseketeers performance of Talent Roundup in the Fantasyland section (takes place during current fade out at 1:12:32 (apparently in the original production, they fling open the doors, the Mouseketeers run out and sing their song)

DISNEYLAND AFTER DARK
- Additions of "Professional Stunt Person - Do Not Attempt" captions during firewalking/handling performances
- I've read one mention of another edit on Disneyland After Dark. It's been speculatated that there was another song sung before Twilight Time in the Plaza Gardens sequence at 35:50. The song speculated was "The Sepetember Song" but I've been unable to confirm this

10TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW
- Shortening of The Tiki Room segment at 38:31 by cutting up main theme song up and complete removal of "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing" (need confirmation on these edits)

Has anyone had a chance to do side-by-side comparisons of the DVD version with archival VHS copies? I'm assuming the Mouseketeer stuff was axed due to royalties and the speculation that previous lawsuit had an effect on their inclusion.

Anyway, any input you could provide would be most appreciative. Thanks for help!

- Steve

Here are links to the custom inserts I've currently finished...
Mickey Mouse in Living Color
Silly Symphonies

The Tiki Room is shortened on the DVD as compared to how it aired on "Vault Disney" but as I recall it was more a shortening of "Let's All Sing" and not a wholesale elimination.

I found the old thread in the archives about the Tiki edits. (thanks Trent for bringing them back:)

If any of you have the DVD and don't have the Disney channel version and want detailed time information about the length of the Tiki Room segment and each individual song, here is a copy from my original post back then:

Note: All times listed are based on the Disney Channel version I have on tape with the commercials edited out, NOT the DVD times.

DISNEYLAND TENTH ANNIVERSARY SHOW (Disney Channel version)

TOTAL RUNNING TIME: 49 minutes 20 seconds.

TIKI ROOM SEGMENT (including Walt intro, Jose outside building, and behind the scenes): Begins at 34:30, ends 45:20, total time 10 minutes, 50 seconds

TIKI ROOM SEGMENT (show only): Begins at 37:15, ends 45:20, total time 8 minutes, 5 seconds

TIKI ROOM SHOW SEQUENCE - INDIVIDUAL SONGS

1) Introduction/Dialogue - 55 seconds
2) "The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room" - 40 seconds
3) Enchanted Fountain descends/"Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing" - 2 minutes, 40 seconds
4) "Aloha to You" - 1 minute, 30 seconds
5) "Hawaiian War Chant" - 1 minute, 50 seconds
6) Dialogue/edited finale - 30 seconds

I still have not heard an official explanation as to why the Tiki Room footage was hacked.

Here is a link to my original post which will have links to the rest of the original thread:
