"Remember the Vinyl"

Ok, I know practically nothing about building a website so please bear with the basic design. I just wanted a place to share some of the Disney vinyl I have transfered to Mp3. Some you might have heard before, but I have tried to the include rare and unusual. This is just a start and I will expand the playlist as I can. Appreciate your thoughts and comments....

Ken :)

Yes, I noticed the entire site is currently down . It is a free hosting site, so I guess I cannot complain much. Please try it again later.

This is a great idea for a website! Good job. I'm also looking forward to further additions to it. One thing though: the 45 rpm records are running too slow. :-[ You might want to check the speed setting on your turntable and make sure it's properly calibrated. There are devices you can buy that aren't that expensive that can tell you if your turntable is turning at the proper speed. I haven't heard the 78 rpm tracks before so I can't comment on them. They sound okay, though. This is a good way for people to listen to rare record tracks which have not been released on CD and that are not in our collections. :)

Joseph, you are correct, it is slow. When I converted the songs to mp3, I was able to adjust the speed to compensate and they are corrected on my hard drive and CD....but when I transfered them to the website they went back to originally taped speed! :'(. I need to figure out a way to keep the conversion intact. Any ideas out there?

How did you "adjust the speed?"

So it makes the change while it's recording? If so, it's probably fooling with the sample rate, and the MP3 encoder is undoing whatever it is.

If it's an after-the-fact change, then it should stick, and I'd investigate "operator error" as the most likely cause. ;)

Best bet--get the turntable fixed or replaced. There are way too many properly functioning turntables out there to put up with a bad attitude like that!

well, I do have another turntable that seems to be the "proper" speed (however it does not play 78s) I used it to record STER 4021 "Walt Disney's Music Cavalcade". I loaded it to the website and it appears to be playing ok.

Great site!! Your LP collection is awesome. Any chance of putting 'Celebrate the magic' (or clips of it) on the site? I think it would be a nice preview. Anyway to put a countdown to the convention on the site too?

Just some thoughts
