Can someone please advise the status of the terrific unreleased score by the late Georges DELERUE for Jack Clayton's SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (1983) ? I've heard all of it and it deserves some sort of legitimate release...come to think of it, Horner's score is pretty good too and deserves a stereo release.......anyone?

Years ago, Varese Sarabande released three CDs of rerecordings (and a few original recordings) of Delerue's music, the third of which contained a nearly 12-mintue suite from his rejected score for SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES. The series was titled "The London Sessions" Volumes 1, 2, and 3. Here's the cover art for Volume 3, containing SWTWC:

While these three CDs are out of print, Varese issued a 2-CD compendium of these recordings as part of their Great Composers series at a very reasonable price, and SWTWC made the cut. Here's the cover art:

Very highly recommended!

The Varese version isn't bad but can't match the exhilerating and energetic performance of the original sessions. And none of the spooky choral music was included on that release. The originals are, no doubt, wasting away in some obscure Disney vault, along with James Horner's actually-used score.......
