To prepare the world for the CD release, KSM recently launched a U.S. club tour opening for labelmate Mitchel Musso. Though the album marks the band's recording debut, KSM has already become enormously popular across the country, having played in front of 500,000 fans. Not only have they had more than a million plays on MySpace, KSM recently wrapped up a summer tour with Demi Lovato (they previously opened for Jonas Brothers and Honor Society on select dates). "Read Between the Lines" arrives in stores September 22.
Written and produced by Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil, recorded and performed entirely by KSM, the new album showcases the band's ferocious rock 'n' roll instincts. Together for the last two years, KSM was initially mentored by the classic all-girl band, The Go-Go's, who still inspire them as musicians and influence their sound. KSM is: bassist Sophia Melon (18), drummer Kate Cabebe (18), lead guitarist Shae Padilla (18), rhythm guitarist Katie Cecil (16) and lead singer Shelby Cobra (16).
Tracks include: "Don't Rain on My Parade," "Crazy Over You," "Read Between the Lines," "Everytime You Go," "Saturdays and Sundays," "Permission to Party," "Distracted," "Unpredictable," "Don't Come Crying to Me," "Best Friends Forever," "Slow Motion," "2 Guitars Bass and a Drum," and a remake of the Cheap Trick classic "I Want You to Want Me."
Meanwhile their 20-part reality-based web series, "KSM: Read Between the Lines Presented by ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses," premiered earlier this month (www.teen.com/KSM and www.ksm.acuvue.com). From the executive producers of "Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream" and "Jonas Brothers 3D Concert Experience," the series documents the formation of KSM, the girls' personal and professional successes, and life on the road. Viewers will be able to see the girls' journey on tour with Demi Lovato and in September, a special appearance by the Jonas Brothers.
KSM's version of "I Want You to Want Me" appeared in the hit ABC Family summer original series, "10 Things I Hate About You." The full-length music video featuring the band and show's cast, along with additional streams and behind-the-scenes videos, is available now on ABCFamily.com. Their music has also been featured in Disney Channel Original Movies "Princess Protection Program" and "Wizards of Waverly Place."
Read Between the Lines will be available wherever music is sold on September 22 on Disney Sound. For more information on KSM, please visit: http://www.myspace.com/ksmofficial.
