Question for MSEP Danny or any other MSEP fan

Howdy!

Does anyone remember the "Hercules Electrical Parade" in New York, June of '97?

There were some different cues in the music, most notable, the intro.

Does anyone have any information about that?

I remember the night I saw it, I stood in front of the Plaza Hotel with my wife. By the time the floats got up there to 59th St., the batteries were dying, and the floats were dim! I drove around Manhattan afterwards blasting the 1992 MSEP mix out of my car, but no one noticed.

By the way, Danny...if you're still interested, I think I have a way we can use the Mickey's 50th track

Jeff-

I was there (we parked our butts in front of the Disney Store on 55th and 5th all day long...even got to see the Hare Krisna parade!) and videotaped the parade (which was dimming by the time it got to us too but y'all were evern FURTHER north so it must've been REALLY bad by then). But the tape is VERY much buried in a box in our storage room. Wish I could help you!

I had the opportunity to audition for that parade but my TDS manager at the time talked me out of it, saying they only wanted dancers, not characters. We found out later she was saying this to everyone in our store (except the 2 dancers) so she wouldn't have to worry so much about staffing her store on the day of the parade. I never forgave her for it.

Hi Sharon--

I remember all that flap too, because my Disney Store manager did the same thing. He quietly told one or two people about the auditions, and that was it.
I remember just being lucky enough to be off the schedule that day, or else I'd have missed the parade entirely.

(I worked at Woodbridge)

Jeff-

I guess it was a "manager" thing. Gee and I thought Betty Ann was the only miserable one .

If you worked at Woodbrige, then we HAD to have seen each other somewhere along the way because before "my" store opened (#535, in Staten Island), Woodbridge was the closest store that I would visit as a guest. I also think that we "inherited" your Asst. Mngr named Kevin.

Does this person look familiar? She/I was/am all of 4'6.75"

Hey, Sharon,

Thanks for writing back! I think I DO remember you, because I was the full-timer at #321 Woodbridge, and I spent a lot of time at 535.

You probably knew Philita? And Marie in collectibles? I think she was another Islander who made the move to STaten Island when they opened. I was even an interviewer for the first cast at that location.

Kevin the Assistant Manager is one of my best friends in life, and was my best man at my wedding.

And someday when we can email privately, I'll tell ya what I thought of many of our managers!

Just kidding, mostly...lol, but that was such a great experience.

Hi Jeff-

Oh yep, I knew Philita...my strongest memory of her is that she quit the company in a big ol' huff . And I'm STILL in touch with Marie, on and off. We probably know LOTS of the same people. I didn't work at 535 the first year it opened (though I would've DIED to), but auditioned for the Christmas 1996 season as a "tempcasualseasonal" and they kept me (the one good thing Betty Ann ever did ).

I still know Philita, and yes, she left in a big ol' huff. I love her, but we disagree about what happened.

THis is so funny, I've been on this board for years, and we've never "met."

Nice to meet ya!

Nice to meet you too, Jeff. Do you have a picture so I can see if I remember you by sight?

I have NO idea of the recollections of Philita's leaving...I don't even remember if she left before or after me, though my gut says after (I left the summer of '98).

You must also know Asst. Mngr Lauren from your store, who eventually went to our store. And do you remember David Cohen? I don't think he worked at your store, though I think he was an Asst. Mnger at every other store in Central NJ ....after being passed up for Manager a bezillion times, he and his girlfriend Rachel/Rae moved down here and got hitched. I don't think he works for Disney anymore, but for Celebration.

Those 2 tapes (definitely E!...not sure if I have the Disney Channel special, though my husband or in-laws might......gee, remember when TDC used to put on QUALITY programming?) are buried alongside my own parade footage in a box somewhere in Bedroom #4 .

Bill, why on earth do I amaze and perplex you THIS time?

-Sharon-

Hey Sharon,

I sure do remember Lauren. She was one of my very best friends during my stint at Woodbridge. We all seemed to go our separate ways though.

David Cohen was all ready gone when I got there, but he was a legend, true. I think I had the pleasure of meeting him once, at a Staten Island pre-opening somethingorother.

During what years did you work at TDS?

I was IMing with Marie earlier today...she wants to know if you have a picture of yourself available?

It's not just Marie (of collectables fame)... ALL of us are dying to know! Please don't even *think* of taking this enchanting thread to email thereby denying everyone the pleasure of learning what the two of you had for lunch on August 14, 1998!

David "The Legend Who Moved On" Cohen! Lauren! Staten Island pre-openings! Stints at Woodbridge! Philita! Rachel/Rae! Betty Ann! Kevin the Assistant Manager/Best Man! #321! #535!

More Philita!

Captivating stuff!

Marie worked in Adults, not Collectibles. *I* worked in Collectibles.

Neener, neener, neener!

Oh yeah, of course Bill! What did YOU think those "twirly characters with lights sticking out" things that they sell all over the place, were for?

I'd hate to tell you what PVC stands for. Or what positions we would put the plush into.

And you shoulda just SEEN what was in the "hidden" segments via the touch screen .

-Sharon-

I think what the E! presentation lacked in parade coverage, made up for it w/ even MORE behind tghe scenes stuff on the parade then the Disney Channel presentation.
