Hi

I have been trying to get the names of the songs and artist of the music that plays outside at the Ploynesian resort?

I have not been able to get any information. The songs play continuously in the common areas of the resort.

Does anyone know how I might get that list or buy the music?

I believe the resort itself can provide you with this list. You can contact the Polynesian at (407) 824-2000. There is also a website out there with bgm lists for several of the WDW resorts including the Polynesian. Maybe someone else remembers the site (I think whomever runs it used to be a member here several years ago...)

Did you get a complete list? If you did, could you post?
I saw a few Cds listed, but only 2 actually contained actual music played on the Poly loop.

I also found out that the list was incorrect and I couldn't find any of the songs fromt he loop? Does anyone have a clue on where to find the actual list of songs and artists on the Polynesian Resort outdoor music loop?

A very dear friend of mine loves staying at the Polynesian at WDW, and knowing how into Disney music I am she has asked me if I could get hold of a recording of some or all of the BGM loop that plays in the lobby & poolside areas, etc. I've got Dixie Landings & Wilderness Lodge loops, but not the Poly.

Can anyone help find such a recording, or at least a list of the tracks currently being played?

There's no definitive list available, Andre, but I hope I can console you with the fact that high-quality recordings of the Poly's BGM loop do exist on the trading circuit. Keep your eyes on the usual suspects and places and I'm sure it'll turn up.

Last night I downloaded a track called "Disney World - Polynesian Resort BGM.mp3" (52'56") which I hope will be just what they're looking for. Not sure how current is is though (date shows as 1971 in the ID tag) - if anyone knows better, could they let me know?

I can confirm that the 52:56 recording is the genuine article, and is current. It was recorded on-site via the "induction" method; I assisted in the sonic clean-up, if memory serves.

If the loop runs 52:56, I'd have to assume we're talking about the same file -- especially if the ID3 tag's Genre reads "Disney Park Audio", that's usually a pretty good sign that a given file has passed through here ;) -- but the odds that a fake would have the exact same timing to the second as another file are pretty long.

I just got back from 9 nights at the Polynesian... :cool:

I recorded the loop a coupla years ago at the pool with a telephone pickup. It took a lot of cleaning up to get a decent sounding recording. It is tolerable
I posted it a while back to the usenet. I'll repost soon.
I have a few CDs with 6 of the tracks so far. Am still looking. :)

I was wondering if anyone has a track listing for the background music at WDW's Polynesian Hotel. I have read that the background music is still the original tracks from 1971, but then read elsewhere that that is not the case. I know that there are at least 18 songs, but perhaps there are more. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I can verify one fact, the loop that is presently available is not the original loop. I have been visiting WDW since 1989 now and everytime I have stayed at the Polynesian Village. I have many recordings from my videotapes from 1993 and 1994 with the music playing in the background. None of the music heard on my videos from 1994 or earlier contain any of the music heard in this loop. But, sometime in 1995 they did change the loop. I went in July '95 and have video from this trip as well. The loop is heard in my videos from 1995 and on. So between summer '94 and summer '95 the loop was indeed changed. This brings up another question -- was the loop changed again in between 1971 and 1993? I tend to think it probably was. So, there could possibly be a few loops from the Polynesian's past.

I spent some time the other day looking to see if I could ID any of the songs (as I just made a new reference recording). I came up empty, but I'm glad to see that Jay is on the case.

I would be happy to know how many different versions have played since the resort opened. I recall seeing some tracks in circulation that had an early date associated with them, but who knows if they are legitimate.

You've got to find these things the old-fashioned way as Shazam has never been to Hawai`i. :(
