OT What Fresh Hell is This?

Bill

I was at the Disney Studios last week and witnessed the devastation first hand. Disney TV Animation is moving to Glendale near the Imagineering buildings but Mulan 2, Emperor's New Groove 2, Lilo and Stitch 2 and Fox and the Hound 2 are all well on their way to being in your hot little hands very soon. Try to be patient. I'm wondering if this will be the first time that no 2D animation has been done on the Buena Vista lot since Walt moved from Hyperion Avenue.

And that's the good news.

Hopefully someone can deny these horrible rumors...Mary Poppins with Queen Latifah? CG versions of the Disney classics using rotoscoped 3D versions of the original animation? Walt is turning over in his fridge. Please someone...anyone...even Maliboomer....say it ain't so!

Hi Bill,

It's been pretty well known that several TV animation releases would be coming out in a row (as they have been for the last few years). Mulan 3 was already scheduled for a while but aside from some preproduction heresay, I haven't heard anything about it for sometime now.

As far as your Mary Poppins comment onward,, I'm curious of your sources. I'm not doubting you now, I'm just curious as I've not been privy to this information.

Regards,

DACS

Won't be in MY hot little hands. I will NEVER buy a ridiculous sequel. Toy Story 2 was one thing. But all those looks-like-it-was-made-in-3-days-for-3-year-olds direct-to-videos? No WAY.

You know as ridiculous as Mary Poppins with Queen Latifah sounds, it doesn't bother me the way I expected. Time was, I woulda been pretty upset about it. That and the sequels. "How can they do this?" But look at what happens. When someone talks about Lady and the Tramp, anyone, do you even have to ask which version, the original or the sequel? The fear I had when these sequels first started getting out of control is that they would become more prominent than the originals. This simply can't happen given the way they are made. Every step of thier production is designed to be quick and low cost. Thus they are shallow imitations which only make us long to rewatch thier predecessors. And if the production values and stories DO improve, than great! But until they do they will fail to capture us as the originals did and thus they will quickly be forgotten.

As for Queen Latifah as everyones favorite Magical Nanny. Who cares. Every dozen years someone tries to remake a classic. Sometimes thier better than the original, sometimes not. It's in Disney's best interest to do it well, and if they don't, well it's not gonna hurt my love for the Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke version.

Sounds like Disney is STILL trying to BRING DOWN THE HOUSE. Maybe Steve Martin, Eugeene Levy and the rest can appear in this (enjoyed BDtH and the castElvy, particlay was funny and seems to be in EVERY movie)
