One Little Spark - 2006 WDW OA!?!?!

During my most recent trip to WDW I picked up the 2006 'where magic lives' official album (along with the new versions of the Haunted Mansion & Pirates CDs).

The track I was most excited about was 'One Little Spark' listed as from Journey Into Imagination with Figment. I figured this was the version with the new lyrics from the latest attraction.

Going through the liner notes I saw the track copyrighted in 1983 and figured it was still the original version. Dissapointed, I through it on anyway just to check. The version sounds COMPLETELY different from the One Little Spark original I'm used to. The 'Dreamfinder's vocals, and even Figment's vocals sound a bit off - and I've never heard the arrangement put together quite this way before. Anyone have any info about this?

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... but it's not Dreamfinder... it's Nigel Channing / Eric Idol. That track is from the current version of the ride....

I hope you did not have the Haunted Mansion & Pirates CDs before - because there are no "new versions" only new cover art.

It is not the version from the current attraction, that was my point (sorry if I didn't explain it clear enough).

Let me try again - I was hoping to have the audio from the current attraction - as it is listed as Journey into Imagination with Figment. But the track has the original lyrics in a bizzare arrangement that I have never heard before. Sung not by the original Dreamfinder, nor Eric Idle / Nigel Channing.

I'm telling you, it's just some bizzare version that they pulled from who knows where...

As for the Haunted Manion & Pirates CDs, I know the tracks are the same, but it is nice to have actual 'produced' CDs versus the Red Dot versions from years past with the cheap covers and discs.

The Pirates disc looks excellent, while the Mansion one is alright.

I'm listening to it right now:

They just keep singing the chorus over and over again. Trust me, its very VERY bizzare...

are there any rules for putting up a short snippet so you can hear it?

And there is NO WAY that is Eric Idle singing... doesn't sound anything like him... and like I said, it sounds nothing like the original Dreamfinder either...

so weird...

Ok, so maybe I'm completely nuts...

I just listened to a live recording of the audio from the new Journey Into Imagination with Figment...

The two minute track on the 2006 OA sounds like its just basically from the finale of the attraction (the chorus sung over and over again). And perhaps it actually is eric Idle singing (????). I guess I was just hoping for something more - like the entire attraction audio (or at least more of the new lyrics).

I would love to get confirmation on whether this is in fact Eric Idle singing or not.

Maybe on a future OA we'll get more audio from this attraction, as I feel a bit short-changed with this track :(

oh, and here is a shot of my 'souvineers' :)

Yep it's Eric Idle. It is kinda strange that they only used the Chorus. It would have been nice to string together all the verses that figment now sings. Still I am glad to have this included and especially like the instrumental bits at the beginning and end.

Popkid! Wow if you're nuts then so am I - I totally did not even notice that you were who I was responding to.

Anyway, it absolutely is from the current attraction - specifically the finale, and it is most assuredly Eric Idle. I'm not denying that it is "some bizarre version" - because that is most certainly accurate, but it *is* the bizarre version used in the attraction.

The Mansion and Pirates CDs look neat, but I've totally moved away from keeping CDs all over the place. It got to the point that I have SO many that it just makes a mess - so I rip everything I get to MP3 and file it nice and neat on my computer. Any CD I buy is just stashed off to the side in a box somewhere.. so there's definitely no use (for me) to purchase those two as I have the original ones already.

when i first listened to it I was convinced they pulled this version out of thin air, now i just feel like an idiot :)

well, hopefully someday we'll get the full Eric Idle version with verses and all.

I'm the same as you Maliboomer, everything gets ripped to MP3 and then stored on the PC and iPod. I just couldn't resist the new CD releases of Pirates and HM - even though I already have them... what can I say, it's a sickness :)

p.s. popkid, go to the JII with Figment page on disneyworld.com - you'll notice something familiar... or download any ride video off the internet ;)
