New Space Mountain Music Full Version?

Hello, I'm new. On another message board, somebody referred me to here about this:

Usually DL puts out a new albulm every four/five years, and this new albulm has only part of the new Space Mountain daytime track...now, when is the full SM track going to be available. Randy Thorton apparently posts here, so they said to ask him to make it available on the Main Street Music kiosks. I don't know, but to be able to hear the full version would be very nice...

Hi and welcome!

Actually, Disneyland has been pretty good about releases recently (knock on wood). I think someone posted on there that the reason that SM is only partially represented on the new set and CD is because it was either unavailable at press time, or WDI was holding out. Not sure what the true answer is...Randy?

WDI was holding out. They didn't want any of the Space Mountain music out before the attraction debuted. "After all, if guests have the music, why should they bother going to Disneyland?". They finally relented but gave us the truncated version. Hopefully once it's up and running full time Randy can find some way to get us the full version.

I've heard that the track offered on the new CD's is the full version of the Space Mtn. soundtrack. The reason it's so short is because the soundtrack doesn't start until the rockets crest the final lift hill (atmospheric music/sounds play until you reach that part). They say that the track on the CD's has been edited to fit better w/the ride and if it has, it probably wouldn't be much different than what you're hearing on the CD. I believe CM's have confirmed that this is how the new soundtrack works during CM Previews though I'm not certain. It may change before the ride even opens!! We'll just have to wait and see when the ride officially opens. ;)

The bulk of what plays during reentry is sfx, but there is definately music on the launch portion that is not included and would make a nice intro to the CD piece.

I listened to the link above and was wondering if the music you hear at launch is the same music as on the promo commercial for the ride. You can watch the promo on laughingplace.com. Just click on the "The Latest" link and scroll down. Long time lurker first time poster. :)

No the music on the promo doesn't play anywhere in the attraction. Nor is what's shown in the promo anything like the actual ride ;)
