Music of Dreams 10-CD Box including DLR, WDW, DLRP&HKDL

The Japanese Disney?s Music of Dreams 10-CD Box has been renewed. The box can be purchased through mail order only (to address in Japan).

CD info (Japanese only) http://www.u-canclub.jp/mod/

Track list (English and Japanese) http://www.u-canclub.jp/mod/list.html

Vol.7, 8 and 9 have park music around the world.
My understanding is that the tracks of all parks except Hong Kong were already released.
I don?t know if the three Hong Kong tracks are as same as Grand Opening CD.

The CD box is about US$260.
The original Mickey plush doll and ?Twice Charmed? CD released previously in US will be also sent as gifts.

That's cool for them. It looks like only volumes 8 and 9 have park stuff. Volume 7 has a couple of Disney on Classic covers and Sea of Dreams.

Well, there is a lot of different material compared to the previous version. It only makes sense though, since the last one came out in 1997 or so. Still, there isn't anything exclusive, especially in the park music department. I'm going to guess that the tracks from Hong Kong Disneyland are, indeed, from the Grand Opening Celebration album. The artwork and box certainly are more interesting than the previous release though.

That is an extensive set! But you got me all excited, I thought it was a re-release of the Treasures of Fantasy set and I about died! ;D

Thanks for the info! I only glanced at the set but it doesn't look like anything is exclusive to this set, if anyone thinks differently let me know. :)

If I didn't already had most of the stuff on that box set I would order it, the covers are beautiful!

It's funny, because the original version did have some exclusive stuff. Ok, maybe not totally exclusive, but stuff that had never been on CD before. There were a lot of old tracks from LP's that hadn't been heard in ages. This new, updated version basically ditched all that old stuff and put in new tracks from the last 10 years that are readily availible on CD. The parks stuff is definately different from the last set too. In that version, most of the parks stuff was from the '91 Official Album, including a lot from EPCOT. Plus, there were a few tracks from Tokyo Disneyland (nothing that hadn't been released before though). This time, the park tracks seem to be from the newer Official Albums, but nothing new...

Oh, and I sure hope they DON'T release Treasures of Fantasy again unless they heavily overhaul it. They did an "update" in 2003 for TDL's 20th, and it was pretty disappointing in that it rehashed a lot of the previous release. If they do a boxed set, I sure hope they put some stuff that has never been released before, or a least new attraction mixes. I'm sure something will be released next year though, since it's TDL's 25th in 2008...

I forgot all about this topic until a recent post reminded me.

The links above don't go to the set mentioned, but I found a new one that still works.

Anyway, I got lucky and found this set a little while ago on Ebay and got it for a steal, basically. It's exactly as the pictures show, but much nicer in person. The "book" box they come in is a nice touch. I wish I could read Japanese, because the book that comes with it has lots of text and nice pictures about the history of Disney music. The plush is cute, and bigger that I thought...he's very soft and fuzzy too.

So, the contents on the CD's should not be surprising to anyone reading the above posts though. There is nothing exclusive, or that rare, frankly. The HKDL tracks, are indeed from the Grand Opening Celebration album. All of the other park tracks have been previously released. I did enjoy the Disney on Classic tracks, but that's because I don't have the CD's those tracks came from originally, so they are new for me. I think the set as a whole is more cohesive than the previous version, but again, nothing new, and if you already have these tracks on various CD's, it will probably not be worth it, unless you're a completist, or love nice boxed sets.

Personally, I wouldn't have even bought it myself if it didn't come so cheap. I was not willing to pay much for it, and I guess nobody else was either, LOL!
