MK "Pirates Arcade" Played in the PotC Queue?

Hello All:

I was listening to one of Dan Smith's live recordings of the Pirates of the Caribbean entrance music, running 2.43 (currently available on Rodentsections) and was surprised to hear the "Pirates Arcade" track from the Pirates of the Caribbean Anniversary disc being played, on repeat I believe . . . as least I heard it repeated on the live clip I heard.

Can anyone provide commentary? Is the Pirates Arcade music currently used? Was it used in the past? Is it just used in a portion of the queue? I was surprised not to hear the "Overture" or "Scare Me" tracks in the clips.

Any information is appreciated.

The Pirates Arcade music originally played in the queue hallway in and just past the turnstiles. This piece was removed during the 2006 rehab (when the outside queue music - steel drums - was also displaced, as well as the Spanish guitar and other queue elements). It has since been replaced by the Pirates Overture, which now plays the entire length of the queues. (originally, the overture had only played at WDW's exit area).

As far as I know, the "Scare Me" music has never been played in the WDW attraction.

Thank you so much for the information!

Perhaps you can answer an additional question: How long was the complete Barker Bird spiel? I have a 2.44 clip that includes dialogue and bird sound effects, mostly without the Yo Ho underscore. There are also the two short lips from the POC Anniversary album. I do not remember the spiel running constantly, meaning there seemed to be periods when the Barker was silent, just looking around, ya know? Any additional information is appreciated.

I had several minutes of this on videotape and now I cannot find it.

I recall hearing the Pirates Arcade in the past. Also, there used to be dialog in the queue, but I haven't heard it during normal park hours for a number of years. However, I did hear the dialog last November during one of the Christmas parties. It was as shock to hear it and I only heard it that one night (I went back the next day to see if it was running during normal hours and I checked on other party nights). I have about 4 seconds of the dialog from 1998 on videotape.

Dan's live recordings captured some of the "Fortress" dialog on one side of the queue. Did the other side dialog as well? I know there was the "digging" dialog. Does anyone know when the dialog was added to the queue? I do not think it was original.

Horizons: sorry to hear about the lost video. Perhaps someone out there will have a longer audio / video clip of the Barker Bird and provide some information.

The Barker Bird speil just a little under 3 minutes if I recall correctly. This spiel included periods of silence & random squawking and whistling.

As for the sound effects in the queue, there were the digging pirates on the right side of the queue... on the left, there was a section of dialogue which played just past the main entrance hallway with sound effects of villagers and local soldiers sounding the alarm of pirates. Other than this, the only other SFX in the queue were the Spanish guitar heard.

Much of this audio still played VERY softly, last I checked, but it's overall impossible to hear... Hope this helps...

Just remembered: "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life For Me)" also played on the left side of the queue, interspersed between dialogue segments of the soldiers. This was the same version of Yo Ho which played in the first caverns/grotto scene and is still heard in Disneyland's Pirates.

The "Fortune Red" Pirate Arcade music from Disneyland WAS used in the entry of the Spanish Fort at WDW (the attraction's entrance) . It played behind the Parrot Barker. The "Yo-ho track from the attractions main song was the lead in to the Parrots spiel (or lead out??) When the Parrot was not doing it's spiel, it did make noises and call-outs to passing guests. The interior of the Spanish Fort had the Spanish guitar bgm as well as the vocals of the drunk pirates , digging pirates and the fortress Calvary being dispatch with horses etc. Also in WDW's Pirates thru the village was a concertina version of the theme that was available as an isolated track on the CD on demand.
