Main Street Electrical Parade-Searching In Vain

Hello all. I have been a lurker for quite some time at this board, and many of you will know me from A.B.M.D.P by the same name. I have come with a story, and I need a LOT of help with this.

As long as I can remember, I have been a huge fan of the MSEP. I have seen many incarnations of it over the last 22 years that I have been going to Disney parks, and the music is what hooked me from the start. No matter how bad a day you may have had, no matter how long you may have waited in a line, when "Electric Fanfare" and "Baroque Hoedown" begin, you forget it all (At least I do).

I have MANY recordings of the parade music, both live and studio, but one version has eluded me for almost 10 years. In my early teen years, I remember distinctly the parade opening: "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Walt Disney World proudly presents....." To this day, I CAN NOT find a version that says "Walt Disney World". I have "Walt Disney", "The Magic Kingdom", "Disneyland", "Disney", etc. but "Walt Disney World" has eluded me forever. I have even had people tell me that the opening never said "Walt Disney World", and for years I really began to believe them. That is, until 2 days ago.

My parents came across old WDW vacation videos while cleaning a few weeks ago, and mailed me everything. Sure enough, there was one labeled "The Main Street Electrical Parade/Fireworks" I put the tape in, just hoping it would play, as it was now 20+ years old. The footage was adequate (for 20 year old video), but when the lights went down..................and the music started.............there it was: "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Walt disney World proudly presents....." I WASN'T crazy! It did exist like I remembered it! I immediately broke into tears (and yes, I am 33 years old), and had to start figuring out how to get a copy like this, as the video soundtrack is pretty bad.

So, I have come here posting with my request, in hopes that the Disney community can help me out. If ANYONE has a "Walt Disney World" version, could you please post it, link it, even e-mail me directly with it? If there is an officially released version of this, does anyone know where I can buy a copy? Understand, this one line means everything to me! This one single line is like the key to unlock my childhood. I appreciate ANY help in finding this version, and I thank everyone in the community in advance for searching their libraries.

The recordings that were available for sale during the original parade's run omitted the vocoder intro. It was never publicly released.

It is a truly sought-after audio clip by many. :(

I understand how you feel. All I EVER wanted was to find the "Remember the Magic" finale from the WDW 25th Anniversary version of Fantasy in the Sky. I listened to an old live recording for 8 years, thinking that all was lost. Everyone I talked to said it was absolutely a lost cause; the piece was too rare. I then discovered this board and some WONDERFUL person here was able to help me find that recording!!!

I'm writing this to give you hope. I will make some inquires to my friends who also collect these random, priceless gems and let you know what I find. I'll do my best!

Have a great day,
-Rick

Dusty,

You have just made my entire week/month/year/Last 10 years of my life searching! I sit at work right now, with tears streaming out of my eyes, and down my face.

Here is my plea to you:

Do you have a FULL VERSION of of the parade, beginning to end, with the vocoder audio in it? If so, could you post it somewhere, host it somewhere with a link, e-mail it to me directly, heck, I will send you a CD and prepaid postage to record it for me.

Unless you are truly passionate about something and understand that passion, you have absolutely no idea what this piece of music means to me, and the link it holds to my childhood. Please, I beg of you, let me know how to obtain a full version of your recording. Thank you so much.

I understand completely. I spent every summer from 1977 when I moved here to Florida going to WDW and seeing the Main Street Electrical Parade and have also collected every version known to man. I do have the whole thing even with part of the Jack Wagner intro but I have to get it all processed and put into an mp3. I just did the intro and outro because the full version is like 20 minutes long and finding someplace to put it where people could access it would be difficult. I may try to post it on a.b.m.d.p. for the 2 year anniversaary but everytime I try to post anything there it never seems to work for me. Either way, once I get it all processed I will see to it that somehow or another you and anyone else who wants a copy of it can get it.

Dusty,

Thanks so much. I understand what you mean by not having luck with A.B.M.D.P Cox cable has a known issue with newsgroups, and 90% of the time everything in the newsgroup is incomplete for me. I will find a way to get a copy of your live version though, even if it means I have to host it somewhere. ;D

If you want to get full use out of newsgroups you are almost always better off signing up for newsgroup service with a company such as a giganews. There are other good choices but I have had great luck with giganews so thats who I mentioned.

Hismattjesty,

Based on your love of the MSEP, I recommend downloading the WindowToTheMagic.com podcast episodes #31 and #33; these episodes are devoted to the many versions of the MSEP we've come to enjoy and experience over the years. You'll find one particular item of significant interest -- in episode 31 at the 19M:31S mark we're told Jack Wagner's voice was used to create the WDW intro and then we hear the DL version instead!

Regards,
Richard

diegorivera2,

Podcasts were absolutely AWESOME! I learned a few things about the parade I did not know. Now I just need Dusty to post that live recording of the MSEP and I'll be in heaven!

Is there an estimate on how many versions of the Electrical parade soundtrack have been made? I woul like to collect them.

Brian

I was honestly considering making a CD or 2 of ALL the versions of MSEP that I have, including all the remixes and such that I got in Japan.
Now that I think about it, it might be, like 3 or 4 CDs! LOL

and I have NOT forgotten about that what has held me up is awaiting a track from JeffinNy to add to the mix Jeff if your reading this PLEASE get back to me. the WDW audio you heard was copied from a DVD sold by my good freind Steve VanderLinda alas a few months ago after previously getting the OK to sell his video footage on ebay Disney asked him to cease sales for some strange reason

SO, I just found a MESP file that sings, "The Magic Kingdom's Electrical Parade". Are you looking for that one?

Have a great day,

Rick,

I do not have that version in my collection either, although I never remember hearing it live either. I would love to add this to my collection as well!
Glad to see this thread is still alive, as I am currently mastering the "Walt Disney World" version that Dusty posted. I am hoping to edit a lot of the crowd noise and hissing out, and crate a HQ live version of it.

Are you referring to the one that says "The Magic Kingdom proudly presents The Main Street Electrical parade?" If so thats the 2000 version from Walt Disney World. If not then I don't have it either and would definitly be interested in hearing it. I am also looking forward to hearing a cleaned up version that John is working on. I did the best I could with it but the audio was ripped from a camcorder recording and camcorders didnt record audio quite so well back in the late 80's.

Dusty

I belweive he is referring to the Walt Disney World announcements. the "Magic Kingdom " announcxement version is available on CDversion is available on CD
