Magic Kingdom's early Fantasyland music (was Snow White's Scary Adv)

Hello:

I was wondering if anyone could clear up something for me. I was looking through Widen Your World's new youtube videos, and on the Snow White's Scary Adventures videos (original version) there is a version of Snow White singing "I'm Wishing."

Does anyone know the source of this version of the song? It sounds familiar to me, but I can't place the singer - it doesn't sound like the one from the film. Was this the only queue music for the original 1971 version? What is used there now?

Oh, and why hasn't that infectous "Step out to your left please" spiel never surfaced?

As always, any information is greatly appreciated.

I can't recall off the top of my head what is playing there now (probably the film soundtrack) but the "I'm Wishing" version you're talking about was also in the beloved "Mickey Mouse Revue" that was sent to Tokyo Disneyland from WDW. I think there is a CD with it, but it might be in Japanese.

Greg: Thanks for the quick response! Too bad there's not an English language version of that attraction floating around out there.

I'm guessing all the old Fantasyland dark rides had those really short queue loops. Peter Pan's Flight's loop runs a little over a minutes (over and over and over again), and it sounds like Snow White's ran about the same length. I don't remember Toad's being all that long either. Any information out there about the original Mad Tea Party music?

Thanks!

Apparently the Mickey Mouse Revue version is also the same one used at Snow White's Wishing Well. So, the audio should be the same. I read somewhere that at WDW both attractions had the same audio for the time they were in the park together. Now, at Tokyo Disneyland, the audio is different, but it's the only Magic Kingdom style park to now have two complete sets of Dwarf figures....one at the MMR, and the other at Snow White's Scary Adventures.

I recall that the original WDW Mad Tea Party music included "The Caucus Race" and "March of the Cards" from the Camarata/Darlene Gillespie LP version of Alice in Wonderland that is currently on iTunes.

I thought I read somewhere that the Fantasyland attractions originally used movie soundtracks and got new soundtracks in the 80s with the rehab of the land. Also, I'm guessing the safety spiels were changed in the last few years to add Spanish.

Bill: I have distinct memories of being in line for Peter Pan's Flight and having the same thought! And I probably only waited 20-30 minutes! I can't imagine all day long!

blm07: The only two Fantasyland attractions I know changed for a fact were Toad and 20K Leagues. Toad took on the music from the 1983 DL refurb and 20K took on music from Disneyland Paris' Pirates' Cove.

Does anyone know if the queue music from it's a small world has changed since its 2005 rehab?

WDW's queues did all seem to have shortened versions of disneyland's queues, i.e. peter pan only having a song or 2 with disneyland playing more, toad playing a shorter version of merrily on our way, yadda..

The exception was the teacups where wdw has several songs and disneyland only plays a very merry unbirthday... but in response to bill's comment, it's funny because you just drown out that song when you're there for more than a couple minutes but waiting for a couple hours for Remember to start as well as the 50th anniversary ceremonies we got absolutely sick of the repetitious main street usa loop and it's over an hour long! =P

Yes - I believe it is now the old DL queue music. My notes say it's from 1966, although I don't know how accurate that information is. It runs about 4:20.

Speaking of the Small World load/unload area at WDW...what was it before? Right now, I think Disneyland uses the old World's Fair exit music, and that's what WDW switched to right? I have been on WDW's several times before it's 2005 refurb, but really can't remember which track they used to use in that area.

Ben: I remember the old music really well. It was a combination of "tune from around the world" - for lack of a better phrase. I remember the Irish Washerwoman and the Mexican Hat Dance.

Here is the "it's a small world" portion of that loop.

(I don't use yousendit often, so let me know if this doesn't work.)

I've also heard a live recording from TDL, which still uses the 1971 loop I believe.

So, for a quick summary of the sounds of early Fantasyland:

Snow White's Scary Adventures - "I'm Wishing" as also used in the Mickey Mouse Revue
Peter Pan's Flight - a 1:10 loop of "You Can Fly"
Mad Tea Party - most likely using "March of the Cards" and "Caucus Race" from the Alice LP
Cinderella's Castle - looped "I Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes," no dialog
Mickey Mouse Revue - instrumental version of Mike Curb Congregation's Walt Disney's Greatest Hits?

Anything else I'm forgetting?

So my guess was correct, it is a instrumental version of the 2000 WDW OA track.

I do have a Disneyland LP called It's a Small World: 18 Favorite Folk Songs, I wonder if tracks from that could have been used? Here is a link to the cover/listing/download: http://bruxinha507.blogspot.com/2006/12/18...disneyland.html

edit: Nope :-[ I somehow doubt any of that was used for an attraction. ::)

I wish the disneymusicloops site was still operational; I believe Kirsten had a list of the songs used in the old it's a small world Queue Loop. Like I said, I remember the Irish Washerwoman, the Mexican Hat Dance, Funiculi, Funicula, I think. . .

And you think the old loop (IASM) is currently being used in TDL?

By the way, what does the "Disneyland Paris' Pirates' Cove" music sound like?

Some of the Pirates Crove / DLP Adventureland music was released on DLF as Sailing Ship Columbia area music.

So to clarify the Snow White queue, it was just this one song over and over again?

Eh, instrumental music isn't too bad--it's easy to tune out. It's when you have to deal with music with lyrics, or, worse yet, repetitive dialog, that you really start to go crazy. I have a friend who worked at Primeval Whirl. She had the pleasure of hearing Hester say "Please stand up before exiting. Buh-Bye!" every five seconds. I've also heard "Destiny" at the end of Mission: Space called the "evil screaming banshee song of doom" by CMs there.

You sure it wasn't the people coming off of the ride puking?

So, it sounds like the clip you posted is the same exit music from the World's fair. How long was the WDW queue loop if it had other international songs in it? The Disneyland and current WDW version is only 4:20, and that sounds like just that track then. Well, does that mean that the clip Wedroy posted is now the only thing playing in the WDW version? Unless I'm totally wrong, I thought that it was what was used at Disneyland. I can remember only hearing that loop at Disneyland, and none of the other international tracks.

The clip that Wedroy posted is not what is played in the current WDW queue to IASM. Is that what you are asking?
