As every year I post this information, Tokyo Disneyland Countdown Party 2003 will be also broadcast live, which is presented by JCB/National Panasonic. The broadband such as DSL is also available. (Click on 200kpbs or 45kpbs depended on your speed.) The Windows Media Player is required.

Wait, 8:30 - 9:30 PM or AM? If it's AM, DAMN! I missed it again. If it's PM! YEAH! - The WeirdOne :D

P.S. - My question is AM or PM? Sorry, I'm not too clear.

If it's broadcasted live, then my guess is that it was 8:30 this morning. Japan is about 15 or 16 hours ahead of us, so.... Sorry.

GOOD question, Matt. Nearly all of the text on the page is written in Japanese and I can't figure out where to click. I tried clicking on a few things...some worked, some didn't. but the ones that did just brought me to more pages that were in Japanese .

Dozo Yoshi soretomo JoeinJpn, taskeru kudasai!

As of yesterday (at least), you can get to the videos that were streamed on New Year's Eve at the following URLs:

200 Kbps
http://live.asp.hi-ho.ne.jp/tdl_countdown2003_200.asx

45 Kbps
http://live.asp.hi-ho.ne.jp/tdl_countdown2003_45.asx

To my knowledge, there's no link to these from anywhere. Yesterday, I downloaded the 200 Kbps one and it's 82.1 MB. They're both 37:22 minutes long.

I'm so happy they archived it since my recording of the live one got corrupted just as the parade was starting. At the time, their server probably couldn't keep up with the demand.

"Everyone, Do you remember these songs?"

You are right, Henry. There is no link. To watch the countdown VOD, you would register at ether JCB online account called "My JCB" or Panasonic mailing list (mail magazine).

1. JCB
You must have a JCB card (an official credit card of Tokyo Disney Resort) with card # starting 354 and register your profile online (Free).

2. Panasonic

You need to register at one of the following mailing list: "N Town", "Panasonic Express", "Pana Sense" or "Will". (Free.)

Henry posted the link, so we could watch the TDL countdown now without these registrations.

In Tokyo DisneySea New Years Eve Celebration VOD, you would listen to "Reflections of Earth" played at EPCOT. (It surprised me.)

Please check TDS Harborside Christmas shows, too before they are gone.

You click on the number and watch it.

To record the stream, I used a program called SDP. You can download it from http://sdp.ppona.com. I had previously tried using a utility called ASFRecorder but never had any luck with it.

Thanks Yoshi and thanks JoeInJpn for all of the information you've provided. I'm at quite a disadvantage not understanding Japanese but Babel Fish has become my friend.

Also, it looks like we'll be able to find the Tokyo DisneySea New Year's Eve streams here beginning January 22:

200 Kbps
http://live.asp.hi-ho.ne.jp/tds_countdown2003_200.asx

45 Kbps
http://live.asp.hi-ho.ne.jp/tds_countdown2003_45.asx

Does anyone know if they released a Countdown Party 2003 CD? I know much of the music is the same as in years past except for some minor changes and I haven't seen anything listed on eBay so I'm guessing there isn't one this year.

Thank you, thank you, arigato gozaimas, and thank you to Yoshi, Henry, JoeinJapan, everyone for pointing us toward these great links. It was much appreciated by me, and I'm sure many others.

I enjoyed counting down to the new year with all my TDL friends (even if it was Jan. 11) And the Christmas show snippets were fun, too.

Thanks again to all...

(P.S. to Henry, There was no CD release this year, I am told, by a friend who was in Japan)

HELP w/ Live Tokyo Disneyland Countdown Party 2003

That SPD program does not work for me. Can some explain to me what I am doing wrong. I try to click go and it starts and 1 second later it says "disconnected" and it's been doing that for 2 days now. HELP! - The WeirdOne :(

WeirdOne,

It sounds like you might be behind a firewall which is blocking the port for MMS. Try the following: Open SDP and under the Setup menu choose Setup Options. Click on the Protocol tab and then choose HTTP instead of TCP. See if that solves your problem.

This is just my comment of the parade.

(Tokyo Disneyland Is Your Land (English Version) etc.)

It is my favorite song, especially in English. It reminds me of the grand opening. I heard it again and again on TV commercials. I hope that someday the English "TDL Is Your Land" will be released on CD. :)

(1983 (or around 1983?) Hit songs)
Does anyone know the song titles? I only knew the Cyndi Lauper's song (but I don't know the title). ???

(Auld Lang Syne - Countdown - When You Wish Upon a Star)

(Let's Celebrate)
It was often used on TDL countdown Parade. The book of TDL Treasures of Fantasy CD set says Let's Celebrate is WDW 20th Anniversary song. Two month ago, I confirmed it from the Japanese TV program I recorded 10 years ago. When Euro Disneyland was opened, the 2-hour special TV program was broadcasted in Japan. It introduced the Euro Disneyland attractions, shows and a parade for 1 hour. It also introduced all of the Tokyo Disneyland attractions and a special event, "Disney World Fair" to celebrate the grand opening of Euro Disneyland for 45 minutes. Disneyland attractions and Walt Disney World 20th anniversary were also introduced for 15 minutes. In the introduction of WDW, I heard "Let's celebrate" as BGM. Yes, it was really WDW 20th anniversary theme song. I also saw a Surprise Celebration parade at MK. I had read the post here about this parade. I understood what kind of parade it was.

I hope I will join in the countdown party 2004. Originally I planed to go to Japan during Christmas vacations, but I had to work here, in U.S.A. :'(

Connection keeps disconnecting after 30-40%

I am using SDP as suggested, but it keeps disconnecting after 30-40% is downloaded, regardless of the choice of protocol setting. The resume function does not seem to work on this particular server.

Also - it is extremely slow - despite my being on a cable internet connection. It probably took 2.5 hours tonight to get to 44% when it disconnected.

???

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brett.

Hello Yoshi and fellow posters.

Thanks for the nice and kind words. I've been able to use the SDP software without problems except in the "Christmas Event" downloads. But then again, I videotaped all these events in person myself! :p

Anyhow, Yoshi, you asked about the song medley performed during the TDL New Year's Show, here is my listing below:

"Look to the Stars" - (unsure of title, artist unknown)
"Can't Take My Eyes Off You" - Boys Town Gang
"Wake Me Up (Before You Go-Go)" - Wham!
"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" - Cyndi Lauper
"One More Time" - George Benson
"Heart of Rock and Roll" - Huey Lewis and the News
"Footloose" - Kenny Loggins

You're right about all these songs being very popular around 1983 when TDL opened. One note though, Wham's selection above was released in 1984 I believe. Hey Yoshi, let me know when you're in town again! Take care everyone. Happy New Year!
