Let's Play...Name that Tune

I'm pretty sure it is "Silverado" theme. I have not, however, downloaded and listened to what you put up. (I can never open the file through Sendspace; there is no file extension and the file type just comes up as "File".

If you didn't download the track, how can you tell what it is? By the way, it's not the Silverado track.

Once you click the link, on the bottom of the page is the file name.mp3 Don't you see it?

i'm not sure what it is, i played it, try looking for one of those nature sounding cd's you see in stores, like native flutes or celtic bagpipes those kinds of cd's i mean. you know? try those as it reminds me of one.

I'm sure there will be an easier way to identify the track.

The reason I thought it was Silverado is because I have a 4.15 copy of Wilderness Lodge music entitled "Silverado Theme".

When I click on file name.mp3, it begins to download, but the file only saves as "File" and not in mp3. It's happened before using Sendspace. I don't know why it happens. Sorry.

I thought the same thing.
I can't recall having heard the tune before but it IS really relaxing and does sound like some of my CDs of that type of relaxation music (although not on any of the ones I have).

Oh, I like the idea of identifying a tune by the length rather than the sound. That's an interesting concept ;D
Yes, whatever type of file you are downloading, make a note and add the extension after it downloads. Don't know the reasoning behind that - possibly so "they" can't find out if it's text file, music file etc with possible copyright implications?

Thanks, WDWGuy.

The track reminds me of "Suite Bergamasque, Claire de Lune No.3". I wouldn't bet on it, though. I'll take a longer listen later.

Ever wonder why someone doesn't come along and put together a music database that allows you to identify music by sound instead of just artist, title, and time?

Well, apparently, someone has...

You need an iPhone and...

Shazam

I don't have an iPhone :'(

I spent about an hour listening to various native american songs on itunes. No luck identifying the track in question.

I went to the lodge this evening to upgrade my induction recording of the area music. Naturally, all of the exterior speakers were turned off.

By chance, I decided to ask the front desk if they had a current playlist. Of course, they are still passing out the old list. But at least the person I spoke to knew the list was incorrect. That's a first!

I was going to suggest Shazam, but I thought it might feature more recent pop tunes rather than much of the park music.

If you read the reviews for Shazam, people are saying they've found matches for some pretty obsure stuff. But, yes, your success rate can only be as good as what is in their database. I think they're claiming around 5 million songs, but if there is no African music, you won't be tracking down any AKL stuff that way. The fact that they can successfully identify a song that is on the radio, TV, in a movie, a restaurant, or a store - even if it's just a 'Top 100' pop song - is nothing short of amazing. It's voodoo magic!

Edit: Another application called midomi allows you to hum a song and find a match! Check out their demo video. They start humming, etc., around the 1:08 mark. It looks like you can also visit their website and hum into your computer's microphone - no need for an iPhone. Get to hummin', Horizons! ;)

Voodoo magic, I tell you!

Very magical indeed. What you guys need is an app tailored to Disney Park music. How about giving out your home number? Anyone could call, play a snippet of music and out comes the song title. But you need a snappy name for the application. Inducti? InducRec? iParkmuzik?

Mystery solved. The track is "Siyotanka Boy" by Douglas Spotted Eagle. The track can be found on the CD "Flute Boy."

What's interesting is that the old playlist also lists "Siyo Tanka" by Time and Paul on the CD "Guardian Spirits." There isn't a sample on Amazon or itunes to compare to the Douglas Spotted Eagle version. However, given that I have found a lot of crossover between the new and the old loop, I am beginning to wonder if the new loop (17 tracks) is just a truncated version of the old (29 tracks). Unfortunately, I don't have a recording of the old loop in order to prove this out.
