If anyone is interested, the unreleased music and sound effects from the Indiana Jones Adventure has been reissued on Rodentsections.

Why? (Genuine question)
Have we stopped mentioning Rodentsections here as a source of material or is there problem with those particular files. They are not supposed to be available anywhere to buy.
I know there is always a dispute/unresolved angst over copyright/availability etc with Rodentsections but it is often mentioned here as a source of unavailable (commercially) Park music etc as is this site mentioned there (plus the number of us who are members of both, of course) ;)
Just wondering as I was one of those who urged the files to be reloaded after the original uploader removed his stuff.

In my opinion, I don't think this site should be used as a method to either allow downloading, or tell people where to download, copyrighted material. You never know who is reading these forums. I don't want to see this site get tainted with the reputation of Rodentsections.

That's fair enough.
I was just worried that it was either an "official" comment or that there was a problem with those particular files.
As you know, I do have references to things like the DL Forever torrents in my blogs as well as commercial CD sources.
Thanks for he quick reply.

Agreed.

There is nothing wrong with mentioning the Disneyland/Walt Disney World Forever kiosks. It would be best not to mention torrents, though. Persons interested in that sort of stuff are welcome to use Google to find it on their own. Any direct/indirect links to torrents will be removed by Admin.

OK, you're the boss so I have to go with your rules.
May I suggest, however, that you place a sticky to the effect that any links to copyright material will be removed and are not allowed on the site (and possibly something to that effect on the main page).

I presume that this will also mean that makeminemusic's links (an Admin) will also be removed as will superdave913's "see hear" links and any references to torrents etc and anything similar?
I know you did have misgivings over them earlier.
Maybe now is the time for a good clean-out.
They are, after all, all unauthorized copyright material being made accessable to the public (and downloadable by anyone with the slightest knowledge). I don't think a "do not download" notice on a site would cut much ice with Disney Legal.

If we are going to do it, let's do it properly with a clear declaration on the main page that any links to anything that may infringe on copyright or to any sites that may are strictly forbidden. That way, we know exactly where we stand (not everyone will read this thread).
That's fair and will be part of the rules of the site which we agree to by joining.

Whilst I may not be that over-enthusiastic over the decision, I recognize your right to enforce it and totally understand your reasons but would like to see it throughout he site, eventually (I know it will take a lot of work to edit the posts but the the references and links do need to be removed so to keep the site clear, don't you think? - and we can't edit them ourselves).

We should then be left with a site that will have no worries whatsoever about breaking any laws and, more importantly, be under no threat of closure from Disney (not to mention personal liability for the site owner) so we can keep on discussing the music and compiling our loops with a clear conscience for years to come.
Oh, thanks for removing the links etc from my blog. Just went there to do it and found you beat me to it ;)

Wow, I did not realise this was an issue. Sorry if this has caused any trouble. I will not post such a topic again on this site, ever.

I will add something to the "Forum Rules" after IP.Board 3.0.1 has been installed.

Aren't makeminemusic's links for streaming? Still not legit, to be sure, but different from posting links to downloadable MP3s.

I don't know that we need to delete every casual reference to something that might be "out there," but, yes, we certainly want to refrain from providing explicit instructions and/or direct links for obtaining questionable content.

I recognize your right to enforce it and totally understand your reasons
You need look no further than Horizons' recent [post=30500]post[/post] to understand the reasons why.

(I know it will take a lot of work to edit the posts but the the references and links do need to be removed so to keep the site clear, don't you think? - and we can't edit them ourselves).
I really don't have the time to sift through 27,000+ posts. As has been mentioned before, if you have a problem with a post, or need one of your own posts edited (beyond 120 minutes), use the
p_report.gif
button to let the Admins know.

Oh, thanks for removing the links etc from my blog. Just went there to do it and found you beat me to it :p
You did not have any links to torrents or file downloads in your blog. I did, though, notice and fix a couple of broken Amazon links for you.

I really thought I had a couple of mentions of "heavy stream of water" available at "rodentsections" for the WDW and DL references in a couple of the blogs. Must have had second thoughts and removed them all. :D
Thanks for fixing the links, I wasn't too sure how to get the Amazon ID number so posted the entire URL :p
I'm glad the streaming audio will remain. I enjoy listening to them whilst at my PC and my son's rather fond of the "see hear" ones. Superdave913s are also streamed and are really hard to steal (he had me test them for him) and they would be just too much trouble to attempt (don't worry, I'm not going to say) ;)
Yes, I'm sure they'll all be OK.
I've taken the liberty of mentioning on the other site that links to download sites and mentions of "heavy streams of water" are not allowed here which should avoid having to delete stuff.
Hadn't realized there were that many posts though  Bad suggestion.
Good to know where we stand, as I said.
I'm happy enough to comply.

Thanks for fixing the links, I wasn't too sure how to get the Amazon ID number so posted the entire URL :p
For links to Amazon:

  1. Locate and copy Amazon's ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) under 'Product Details' for the desired item.
  2. Paste the ASIN into [ amazon=ASIN ]Click here![ /amazon ] tags in your post.
Click on 'BB Code Help' while in the Editor to learn the correct way to link to a topic/post/blog entry, post Youtube videos, etc.

"rodentsections"
HeHe. This reminds me of eBay buyers and sellers who mention "The River" when attempting to refer to Amazon on eBay's discussion boards.

Hadn't realized there were that many posts though ;) Bad suggestion.
Hmmm. I suppose I could execute a database query to change every instance of "_________" to "Rodentsections."

I don't make "official" comments.

Bruce Springsteen is the Boss.

I don't see anything wrong with posting links to the streaming audio. But, as mentioned above, we should refrain from posting download links or advertise that certain media can be obtained from a specific location. That's really not the purpose of this site.

For purposes of completing playlists, I don't see an issue with offering a download link to a 30 second clip of a reference recording.

I don't know that we need to delete every casual reference to something that might be "out there,"
I often mention or reference certain media that may be "out there" and will continue to do so. Again, that's not the issue.

I really don't have the time to sift through 27,000+ posts.
Slacker! :p

I also commented on eyore's post over at Rodentsections. I see no problem, in certain circumstances, referencing that site or even linking to a forum post, as I have done both in the past.

So we should avoid mentioning torrent files containing source material from Rodentsections? :p

As I posted on Rodentsections, since this site has taken a direction towards trying to avoid all linkage/discussion of giving away files I can see why links to torrents for things like rehearsal cds and what have you wouldn't be allowed here and I get that. But even though a large portion of new actively posting members on Rodentsections are just people asking for copies of songs from new shows/parades, Rodentsections still does serve a great purpose thanks to the benefits of torrents and being able to handle such large media files. It's a great resource for home video productions(and free ones at that so I don't think we need to do the Dave O'Neal comparison of home videos with copyright stuff offered on the side) and I wouldn't hesitate to post a link to a Martin video, a video I've posted, or someone else's video even though these videos typically contain source music mixed into it. But I guess it comes down to how picky we have to be on this board nowadays...
