Hunchback Live Action movie and other Menken Projects

Of course there is going to be "The Little Mermaid" on Broadway coming soon. There are movement workshops going on in London as I am writing this. Additional songs are going to be written by Alan Menken and Glen Slater (who did the lyrics on "Home on the Range") This should be an incredible show. Disney is quickly becoming the king of Broadway.

Secondly as you can see from the title of this post, there is talk of a live action "Hunchback" made for TV using Menken's music and score. You can find an article about it here

Lastly "Enchanted" Disney's new animated movie musical. It looks to be a great one considering the music is by Menken and lyrics by Schwartz.

A release date is scheduled for July 2007.

In "Enchanted," a princess is banished by an evil queen from the animated home of Andalasia to the live-action, present-day New York City.

Menken and Schwartz have worked on great Disney movies like "Pocahantas" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame."

Looks like Disney might be getting back on track in the Movie department. Lots of great things to look forward to.

Interesting about the live-action HUNCHBACK! I'd love to see this released, moreso for the possible CD release/rerecording of the score.

HOWEVER... considering that the article you linked to is from March 9, 2004 and "[the] work is aiming for a 2005 debut", I'm wondering if this project been scrapped. Or is it still in the works?

Does anyone have updated information about this project? Everything I found preliminarily is from 2004.

I think it's slated for completion following the Persian Resort at WDW and Disney's America near Manassas.

And SONG OF THE SOUTH on DVD. ;D

(I now live relatively near to Manassas, VA. I-66 could not have handled the traffic without MAJOR roadwork. It's bad enough as it is.)
