Hollywood Boulevard - BGM Loop ?

Hello:

I was wondering if anyone here could tell me if the Hollywood Boulevard BGM loop has changed since the park's opening in 1989?

Just for record-keeping sake, here is the completed playlist. Thanks to eyore, Bill, and thx99 for their help in identifying unknown song titles.

01 Mona Lisa
02 You'll Never Know
03 Gigi (Main Theme)
04 On the Atchison, Topeak and the Santa Fe
05 The Continental
06 Over the Rainbow
07 Que Sera, Sera
08 Swing on a Star
09 Button and Bows
10 High Noon (Do Not Forsake Me)
11 The Last Time I Saw Paris
12 High Hopes
13 Three Coins in the Fountain
14 When You Wish Upon a Star
15 The Shadow of Your Smile
16 It Might as Well Be Spring
17 All the Way (When Somebody Loves You)
18 Two Sleepy People
19 Zip-a-dee-doo-dah
20 Secret Love
21 The Way You Look Tonight

I've identified Mantovani & Orchestra as the source for Mona Lisa, Over the Rainbow, and Three Coins in the Fountain; Arthur Fiedler & the Boston Pops are the source for the High Noon theme, When You Wish Upon a Star, and Zip-a-dee-doo-dah.

As always, any information or help is appreciated.

Best,
wedroy1923

Re: Hollywood Boulevard - BGM Loop ?

It's from Gigi (so my wife tells me). If she remembers the title I'll post it (maybe the title song) - she's actually telling me the lyrics here. :D

Confirmed. Main theme from Gigi.
see http://www.emusic.com/album/Alan-Jay-Lerne...d/10874370.html and you can click on the button to hear a short clip (main theme, not selections).
I don't know who is playing this version though, sorry.

:D
A is "You'll never know" from the 1943 "Hello Frisco Hello" and sung by Alice Faye in the movie.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You'll_Never_Know

My wife tells me her mother sang it very often around the house so she's very familiar with it and spotted it around 2 bars in - then sang along with it!.

No luck with the C though.
My wife seems to think of a Gene Kelly movie (or similar dancer) but she can't be exact.

Re: Hollywood Boulevard - BGM Loop ?

I'm wondering if the 3rd one could be from "American in Paris".
The 3rd one ("C") is the song "The Last Time I Saw Paris" (Kern/Hammerstein II) from the 1941 film Lady Be Good, with some definite An American in Paris touches.

F is, I believe, "When Somebody Loves You"
Yep, sure sounds like it!

Re: Hollywood Boulevard - BGM Loop ?

That's the first line but  the title is actually "All the way" from the film The Joker is Wild (AA best original song) 1957.

When somebody loves you
It's no good unless he loves you all the way
Happy to be near you
When you need someone to cheer you all the way
It's the "all the way" that's the slow bit at the end of the lines.

There IS a song called "when somebody loves you" but that isn't a movie song (but I'm checking.
Being old has it's advantages :D

And a friend of mine just identified Unknown G as "Two Sleepy People" - folks, I think we've got a tracklist! Thanks to everyone who helped identify songs!

Horizons: when you make it to Disney Studios next time, would you be able to check and see if this loop is still played and where on Hollywood Boulevard?

Re: Hollywood Boulevard - BGM Loop ?

Yes, can conform that - By 'ol Hoagy C from the film "Thanks for the Memory" 1938
It reprises a little of the tune of "thanks for the memory" in it (which was why I was so slow to recognise it :D) and it's regarded as a "companion piece" to it.

Congratulations for having completed the titles of an entire BGM loop.
Get it posted somewhere so it will be around forever :(

Just wondering if anyone else is working on this list? I've been able to source a few tracks but using 30sec. samples, so I can't guarantee their accuracy 100%...

I guess I missed this post. This loop still plays and you can hear it from the time you enter the park up to where Hollywood Boulevard meets Sunset Boulevard.

Interesting this should pop back up. I've been working with eyore and needmagic on some of the Walt Disney Studios loop, and this loop is used in its entirety at WDS's Hollywood Boulevard section as well.

freedomnoise13: Thanks for the possible source album info.

Horizons: Thanks for the info regarding the loop's continued use at DHS.

On researching the DLRP loop, I've been able to ID 'The Shadow of Your Smile' - The London Festival of Strings [Musical Masterpieces]

Feel free to update your listing
