Help! Looking for 1983 Official EPCOT album on CD or MP3

Help! Looking for 1983 Official EPCOT album on CD or MP3

So my father has always loved the original Main Entrance music to EPCOT that was on a cassette and LP official album from 1983-84? when it opened. It is no longer in print, and I would really like to get it for his birthday. It reminds him of the great times we had as a family back when we were kids in the 80's. I have a lot of music of my own if someone requires a trade. I am particularly interested in finding the old BGM music from the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT if anyone knows where to find it. Anyway, hope someone can point me in the right direction. I am prepared to pay if need be, but if anyone knows of a more current album that might have it, it would be much appreciated.

are you referring to the main entrance medley to epcot that resembles the universe of energy theme? if so it is on the 2005 official album 2cd set , the "remember when..." album as it was called by some.

Thank you. I will check that out. But i am not sure if it is. I would be the Entrance to the park music from the 80's. BTW If anyone knows of World SHowcase BGM music that would be appreciated too.

Welcome, CastAwayCaptianJack!

The last time I included this track was on the "Walt Disney World - The Happiest Celebration On Earth" (UPC 050086129379 / Product # 612937) 2 disc set for the 50th celebration in 2005. The first time I was able to re-issue this track was on the "Walt Disney World Official Album" (UPC 050086068272 / Product # 60682) in 2000. It was used on several of the Walt Disney World albums between those two dates as well. These albums were 'Park Exclusives' and, unfortunately, are out of print. You may be able to find them on Disney Fan Sites (that have stores) on the web, or maybe even e-bay.

I make no promises, but I wouldn't be surprised if the actual full "EPCOT Center" album shows up on iTunes in the not too distant future.

Good luck with the hunt!

Randy Thornton

EDIT>>>>

I just did a quick search on eBay, and the track was on this album as well.

I believe the entire loop was approximately 28:14.

Randy has just opened the floodgates in terms of EPCOT music on iTunes - this is a banner day!

(Sorry, Horizons, not posted to iTunes - just the idea that Epcot material will eventually be available this way.)

Hey everyone,

I want to make sure I didn't inspire false hopes here, but I was only referring to the possibility of an iTunes re-issue of the original EPCOT Center album the OP had mentioned.

Park material beyond what has already been released on record is another 'windmill' entirely. Mr. Panza and I need a little more time for that quest.

Thanks,
Randy

Was that a "Man of La Mancha" reference, Mr. Thornton? I absolutely LOVE that musical.

(My guess is it refers to Sancho Panza...)

Nah, it's just that "Mr. Panza" reminded me SO much of Quixote's sidekick in Man of La Mancha...

Alright - sorry to have broached the subject and I certainly didn't want to get anyone's hopes up regarding EPCOT Center music on iTunes but come on, let's face it; we're a hell of a lot closer than anyone expected to be just a year or so ago and, with that in mind, it's a banner day.

(Remember - a year ago we didn't have Randy on the boards like we do now!)

Now, if only Iger would provide some details on how digital download content speaks directly park music. . .

That would be great, and I do understand that it would mean things already released to LP or CD before, but hey, it's a start. We could get re-releases of the 1980 and 1988 Official Albums too!

Re: Help! Looking for 1983 Official EPCOT album on CD or MP3

I have a question about these iTunes releases. I've bought a few so far, and the only one to include any kind of liner notes was the 20K release. I'm one of those people who just love having the actual item in my hands, so I would love traditional CD releases of this stuff, but understand that it probably won't happen. So, is there any possibility of getting the original liner notes, or gatefold pictures, etc. on iTunes to come with the albums? That was also one of my problems with the Wonderland kiosks at Disneyland. The cover art was reproduced, but the liner notes were most often absent. Will we be seeing better digital booklets with releases in the future to make up for the loss of hard copies?

I'm glad to hear we could possibly get some of the older albums on iTunes, but if it does happen, can we at least get them in the higher bit rate (iTunes Plus) format?

Digital Booklets ? The reason 20k had a book was because I fought hard for it. I felt very strongly that it need to have some explanation of the soundtrack's turbulent history and what the bonus tracks were. I also wanted to thank the folks that helped me get this released. So far, I've managed to convince folks to let me include digital booklets for high profile titles like 20k. However, our other albums ? like Annette's et al, there were very few that had anything besides cross-sell (and haven't we had enough of that?). But I would like to find a way to include them. You also should know that it's not just a simple matter of scanning. Digital Booklets have a completely different set-up than any of our releases in any format. This requires an artist to reconfigure everything for this new layout and (at my insistence) stay true to the original intent. One of the reasons I've held off on the story albums, was to wait until I got through the digital booklet issues. For example, sitting next to my office, in a protected sleeve, are Colin Campbell's original paintings for "The Haunted Mansion" storyteller ? which I happened to save from the furnace 16 years ago. When I release that album, it is my desire to not only include a reproduction of the original booklet, but include HiRez scans of the original paintings as well. At the moment, digital booklets are more trouble than they're worth compared to getting the audio restored and released. Though we would all like things done perfectly the first time, more often than not, we have to pick our battles. Right now, my first priority is the audio itself. But I will always be looking for ways to enhance the nostalgia! Hopefully, booklets will be come SOP.

Concerning iTunes+, see my response in [topic="3527"]this thread[/topic].

Thanks,
Randy
