???What is this??!!

Is this one of those "music inspired by the movie (or in this case, the ride) CDs or is it an actual soundtrack. Looks like Grim Grinning ghosts is in the film at least. Who did compose the score, anyone know?

I just noticed that the tracklisting for this on Amazon.com includes "A Haunted Mansion overture," presumably featuring Mancina's score. I know the cd isn't out yet, but has anyone heard this? Does anyone know the length of this track?

Thanks!

First Eddie Murphy and now an "inspired by" soundtrack album. 21st Century "Disney magic" at work here. This movie is sounding more and more like a rental to me. See you at Blockbuster's in a few months. At least it can't be worst than "Cat in the Hat."

I feel so bad for Dr. Seuss.....he never would've wanted this kind of degradation of his vision(TV trailer: Cat oogling picture of Mom while kids watch; Cat's comment--"awkward."--I must've missed that part in the book.)

Anyway......back to the topic.....I'm certainly still going to see the HM movie--for the ghosts; the CD, I'm not so sure about--a high price to pay for a snippet of score, and possibly the Grim Grinning Ghosts track(but I still love that Pirates score--what a different offering for this film).

Saw a free preview of the HM movie today. FWIW, it's very, very good, DESPITE Eddie Murphy . I'd rate it one step below the POTC movie.

Musically though, they can keep the Nelly song in the closing credits. And speaking of the closing credits....a word of advice....stay through them until the end, for a special surprise .

Thanks, Matt, for the head's up. I like the sound of that score track by Mancina, though I would still like to know how long it is.

OK, I'm going to answer my own question...

The Mancina track runs 6:13, not bad really, and is a wonderful suite of music from the score... Man, he is good! Still hoping for a promotional full score release.

The movie was so-so in my opinion, but the score was wonderful. :D It prominently featured GGG throughout, and sounded a lot like Debney's Phantom Manor music. It really was a treat.
The "inspired by" album disgusts me. I'll wait for a promo.

Saw the film on Sunday(good, but Pirates was better)--PLEASE, if anybody catches wind of a promo score release, let us know(ditto for Brother Bear)! I just can't bring myself to buy the CD, Mansion fan that I am.

And by the way, what the hell was that unintelligible gibberish that I believe was a song, over the end credits??!? Talk about detracting from the mood, and being put in simply to try and sell a largely pointless CD(I assume that "musical" mess is on the CD); and I thought the songs in Treasure Planet sounded out of place.......one more thing, it was good to hear the Dapper Dans, they were fun as the singing busts.

Ayep...ain't it grand? NOT. Over on Doombuggies.com, people who even like/appreciate Nelly's music were up in arms about that piece of drivel at the end. What does "The Peoples' Court" have to do with the Haunted Mansion???

-Sharon-

Drivel.....that fits good too, Sharon--not that I've got anything against drivel(hats off to Seinfeld), hip-hop/rap, or whatever category of sound that particular piece fits into.....it's just that it would fit so much better over several minutes of MTV soft porn, currently referred to as a "music video".......

It's not MY taste in music either...but it's obviously SOMEBODY'S (several somebody's) or they wouldn't have included it. But it's SO inappropriate for the closing credits of that movie. Another rendition of Grim Grinning Ghosts, or ANY ol' spooky, Halloweenesque songs would've been SO much better.

To buy, or not to buy.....that is the question.....

Right......a Dapper Dans "Monster Mash".....something else!

Now here's the real question, Sharon--being a hard-nosed Pirates/Mansion fan--do I HAVE to buy the CD??!? Are there any redeeming features, aside from the score track, and the Singing Busts tracks(sung by the Dapper Dans?? anyone know--that might push me over the edge!)? Anything in the CD booklet? I've actually never heard Danny Elfman's old group, Oingo Boingo--kind of interested in that.....

I think it's that Jackson Five track that's holding me back...

Hehehehe....you make it sound like I've LISTENED to this CD yet . It's on The Pile .

FWIW, the Dapper Dans DID sing in the movie...though I don't think the "find the key to the masoleum" medley made it onto the CD.

-Sharon-

I guess I'd be a little scared, too, to listen to most of this CD, Sharon--maybe it should just stay "MIP"--"mint in Pile"......but as I think back, I've got some downright scarier stuff from my foray into "alternative" rock in the early 90's......I'm thinking harder about just buyin' the damn thing. If "the Singing Busts" on the CD are the Dapper Dans, then I think they're on 2 tracks.....gettin' close......

Oh, but I have so much MORE scary stuff that I've never listened to, or heard a total of ONCE...all of the Disney "music box music" CDs I got in Japan in '94 (I think I have 6 of them...how many different times can you hear "La La Lu" in music box music?), Disney tunes played in Banjo, the "best of" CD sung in Chinese, and the list goes on and on and on and on and.....

-Sharon-

scary banjo music........

Gee.....uh, so, you really think "Heigh Ho Banjo" is scary, Sharon??!?

......I guess I may be in deeper than I thought......THAT'S IT, "Haunted Hits" here I come!!!!!
