Michael Giacchino's complete score to Disneyland's Space Mountain can be heard on Erik Woods' excellent radio program Cinematic Sound, including the prelaunch music which was (frustratingly!) left off the official release, the onboard music that plays as the ride vehicle enters the unload area (also left off the official release), and the exit music loop. Woods also plays Giacchino's soundtrack for Space Mountain: Mission 2 at Disneyland Paris, and selections from his unreleased score for SKY HIGH.

Awesome! I'm a huge Giacchino fan anyway, so the rest of that broadcast floats my boat as well.

Although am I the only one that winced at every mention of "Walt Disneyland"? ;)

Walt DisneyLAND??? ???

Oh well, we can't all be hardcore Disney geeks now can we? ;)

Thanks for the info on that site, it was a great place to visit.

Soooo nice to finally hear the music in it's entirety.

I do have one question, in several parts:

The broadcaster mentions that he is going to play the DL ride music & exit music, as well as the DLP ride music... can anyone tell me where each peice stops and the next one starts? Having never heard the DLP music, Im not exactly sure where the DL ride music stops, and the exit music begins, and then where the exit music stops and the DLP music begins.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure where one begins or another ends either, but he should clear that up when he posts the playlist, which - if it follows the format of his previous playlists - will include both titles and timings.

The show is in streaming Real Audio format and will not play in Windows Media Player. You need to download the Real Player HERE.

Hi Guys,

First of all, I apologize for calling the Park Walt Disney Land? I recorded my voice part Sunday morning at 1am and really didn't leave a lot of time for editing and re-recording. If you listen to the entire show you will hear many more errors... I won't point them out for you but they are there. ;)

Secondly, I'm glad you are all enjoying the show. The playlist will hopefully be up soon, but finding free time to do that is proving to be difficult.

Anyway, thanks again for tuning in and I hope you all tune in again soon.

Erik -- thanks so much! I'm really enjoying the show. How did you obtain the Space Mountain music with opening that we all love so much? And where did you learn your background information? Have you interviewed MG?

Thanks! :)

Actually, Michael and I are good friends so he sends me all of his music for air play on my show.

As for an interview... I did interview him way back while attending the Medal of Honor: Underground sessions for air play on my radio show.

So since you know Mr. Giacchino can you find out anything about he music for HKDL's Space mOuntain? From what little info we've heard, he did the music there too but I've been unable to find out if they have the same score as DL or something unique.

Not sure... but can find out. But from the tracks that I have... which seem to be everything he wrote for the rides... the same piece used at DisneyLand is the same piece used in Hong Kong. I say that because in order for Giacchino to write the score had to fly to Japan and ride that version due to the fact that the California version was closed.

This is great stuff!
The Space Mountain music from Anaheim is really cool! I only heard the short ride music track so far, and wasn't really impressed by it. But now I heard everything, it certainly makes part of a beautiful score, with great theme building, etc.
Super!

Having only done the paris version myself, I must say Giacchino's score dissapointed me a bit compared to the original music. The main reason is because there never seemed to be music before the launch, just 'intercom talk'. Now on this broadcast there's a small bit of pre-launch music hearable. It could be the worn off sound system in the trains why I never heard it on the ride, but then again, all the other music sounds fine. Does anybody know if it's used in the attraction or not.

Oh! And I wish they used that Anaheim "Space Mountain overture" as queue music in paris, instead of the intercom talks...
Does Anaheim have queue music?

btw.. sorry to complain a little in such a great topic. Really cool this music became available trough this way!

Anaheim's queue now plays a mix of the Com Chat and Space Warp SFX in the outdoor covered portion of the queue, and in the interior corridors. Then when you enter the main launch room, there is just the sfx of the ship; not sure if it's the original "Wed wed wed" sound from the original Space mOUntain, but it's a similar sound. Sounds redone to me.

FYI, the exit music played is not Disneyland's. It's Walt Disney Worlds. This is the track that replaced the Esquivel - Sentimental Journey track. Just a heads up. :)
