Hi, I'm back again to ask a question.
I'm trying to trace down a version of the opening song from Magic Kingdom's current Frontierland Hoedown.
The song is called Devil's Dream. Here it is on a youtube video.
While most versions sound completely different, the version by Felix Slatkin released on 2 records (Hoedown circa 1962 and Fiddle Classics circa ??) is uncannily similar. Here is an audio clipping from that version to match the beginning of the video (I've made it mono to match the park's version).
The only major difference is that at about the 20 second mark in the park's version it uses a flute while the record version has a banjo. And towards the very end of my clipping it's missing a harmonica from the park's version. Other than that, the orchestration is the same(with a few notes executed slightly different here or there).
Now reportedly and with some certainty, the version used in the park is actually from Disneyland's old show in the early 80's on the Mark Twain riverboat. The audio quality in the park's version is rather abysmal like an old record compared with the clear stereo of the Felix record. Disneyland could've probably made it like that on purpose and Magic Kingdom would just be using it as is.
Can anyone locate a version that fully matches the park's version? I suppose it's possible Jack Wagner or somebody put together a recreation of it back then but wow they made it close.
