From Randy: New iTunes Titles are Here!

From Randy: New iTunes Titles are here!

I'm posting this for Randy because of technical issues he will describe in the following message he asked to pass along to everyone:

A MESSAGE FROM RANDY THORNTON
Sorry for my absence, but for some reason I've been locked out of the boards since last April. I've sent several e-mails to Trent, but we've not been able to connect and I don't want to clutter up the site with another account until I'm able to talk with him. Until this situation is fixed, I won't be able to post too often, as I'm not going to pester Greg to continually be my proxy. However, I've asked him to post this message as I do have some news for you.

NEW iTUNES TITLES
The reason there haven't been new updates recently is that as the fiscal year was ending and I wanted to make sure I transferred as many masters as I could (as opposed to transferring and restoring all at once) for I personally believe the initial transfer is the most important step. So, with that done, it's time for some new releases.

Uploading for release on January 29th are the following albums ?
NEW RELEASES
Italiannette (BV 3304) ? Remastered from the original 3 track Master
Annette Sings Anka (BV 3302) ? Remastered from the original full track Master
Westward Ho the Wagons (WDL 3041) ? Remastered from the original full track Master
Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House (DQ 1257) ? This is the original "White-Cover" release, narrated by Laura Olsher, and was remastered from the original full track master.

PREVIOUSLY RELEASED ON WONDERLAND, ALSO TO BE ADDED TO iTUNES:
? Meet Me Down On Main Street
? A Musical Tour of France with Maurice Chevalier
? Songs from Lady and the Tramp
? The Disney Afternoon
? Country Bear Jamboree (the show element has been replaced with the restoration I did for the Musical History of Disneyland Box Set).

PLUS A VERY SPECIAL TITLE -- THE FIRST CLASSIC DISNEY SOUNDTRACK PREMIERE ON iTUNES.
That 'special project' I've been working on is finally complete and is the 10th title. This is HOPEFULLY the beginning of a new line (only time will tell). Also, when you purchase this title, you can download a Digital Booklet with behind-the-scenes photos, and illustrations. I've written a brief "Producer's Note" outlining the background of the project, and there is (the highlight for me) liner notes from my new friend, composer John Debney. And the title is...

Walt Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ? Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

It's taken me over 10 years to get this released, and it was definitely worth the wait! Thanks very much for all your patience, enthusiasm and support for this great, classic stuff.

Outstanding news! Thanks Randy!!

Very good news, indeed, regarding 20k Leagues! I wonder if it will be available in Apple's higher-quality (256 kbps) format.

So now that there is actually going to be stuff on iTunes that I want......where do we find it on there? Is it in a special area or is it all hit and miss. Typing in Disney does nothing but bring up radio Disney stuff and a few podcasts.

First of all: Thanks to Randy for continuing his work as in the past...

I just hope that Disney cleared the rights for a worldwide release on iTunes and we will see the material being added to the iTunes stores outside the US as well. Any word on that??

Yours

Dirk

Dear Mr. Thornton,

This is indeed good news that Paul Smith's beautiful score to 20,000 Leagues will become available.

Could we hope that Clifton Parker's great scores to The Story of Robin Hood (1952) and the Sword and the Rose (1953) could also see the day.

Yours truly,

Christian

Well, I have to say, I'm really wowed over this news! It's really an historic occasion. I'd like to thank Mr. Thornton for heeding the prayers and wishes of so many fans around the world. And hope the effort is worth it.

I have to admit, though, I've never downloaded anything before and suppose this old soundtrack lover'll be getting into some new technology, but will the liner notes that are promised be something like a cd booklet? I'm not sure how this is going to work. Anyone?

Although it is not complete, some of the Sword and the Rose is on Amazon.

Absolutely Awesome news, I think this is the best batch yet! I never thought I'd ever see 20k released. Awesome.

Re: From Randy: New iTunes Titles are here!

Just bought 20,000 Leagues, Westward Ho and Meet Me Down on Main Street. Going back for more soon!

20,000 Leagues is stunning. Beautiful. Awesome. Great Bonus material. Running time of nearly an hour and twenty minutes! And the liner notes are wonderful, with the best and most Disney-esque themed presentation imaginable. This is the first time I've found a "virtual" liner note booklet better than a physical CD book.

Thanks, Randy! Once again, you've done a wonderful, fantastic job!

Can't wait to listen to Westward Ho and the Mellomen!

I was going to ask who painted Westward Ho's incredible album cover art, but opening the full size image on iTunes makes the signature visible: Peter Ellenshaw. Well, that certainly explains its awesomeness! :)

Strange, it's about 10:30 am Eastern Time as I'm writing this.... I can't find "20,000 Leagues," "Westward Ho, the Wagons" or "Meet Me Down on Main Street" in iTunes.

I figured the Tuesday iTunes releases would take place when the business day begins in California, so I'm surprised you were able to find these new Disney albums yet.

I've been at it over an hour and I don't see anything about 20,000 Leagues anywhere on the iTunes website. Is it hidden somewhere? I'ts 8:30 am now in Los Angeles and I'm new at this but it's getting me frustrated!!!!

Re: From Randy: New iTunes Titles are here!

I found 20,000 Leagues by searching for "Leagues" in iTunes - came right up for me. Couldn't find any of the new Annette albums, though... haven't yet looked for all of the new Disney releases. I seem to recall that, in some of the earlier waves of releases, it took some time for all of them to show up.

Re: From Randy: New iTunes Titles are here!

Thanks for the direct links. Wonder how come "Annette Sings Anka" is listed as "partial album" (even though all 12 tracks are there) and iTunes will only let you buy it as individual tracks?
