Disneyland's Music for "Magical" Fireworks Spectacular

Hi Guys,
So im sure you all heard of the new press release from Disneyland yesterday for the new nightastic fireworks spectacular debuting June 12th? "MAGICAL" which will feature Tinkerbell and Dumbo flying over the castle? I saw a short clip of a presentation Steven Davidson (Creator of this fireworks show and many more RDCT,BELIEVE) and what i saw was very obvious! They are using rehashed musical scores from previous shows like "It's Magical" the 10th Anniversary Castle Show from Tokyo Disneyland, and "Magic Music & Mayhem" from WDW's Magic Kingdom. Gosh this really bugs me, why cant they come up with new music? Instead they have to cut and paste musical scores from other shows and put them all together so that people will have something new to listen to when in actually the music has been already used elsewhere!!. One thing that's new is they brought Eden Espinoza (former cast member of DL Spirit of Pocahontas, Animazement, and the Recent Broadway hit WICKED (Elphaba) into the studio to record and sing the title song and she'll sing Baby Mine, this is all that was newly recorded for the show. What happened to Bruce Healey? he was an excellent Composer for the park? I knew they were going to do this, this will be like 2004's Imagine-A Fantasy in the Sky where they used music from WDW's Share a Dream Come True Parade what a monotnous mess this is going to be!! Don't get me wrong i love Tokyo Disneyland's music but, its something that's already been out there and heard. What next? Disneyland's 55th parade music from the 25th Anniversary?

I tooootally agree with you! What a disaster ! When I found out about the music was recycled I went CRAZY ! I wrote a post in another website and I was so critizied that I should" wait for the final show" "that a true fan dosen't care" and what nonsense! hey I care im so through with the "copy=paste" music on the shows. We already had intro and outro from Orlando's Wishes on remember dreams come true now we get another copy paste its terrible. Don't you think Disneyland DESERVES it's own musical score for it's fireworks? COME ON!!! And if they don't change the chorus on the finale of the show, it has NOTHING to do with the theme of the show... if you listen carefully it says: "The things that you see are so unbelievably magical , wonderfull , MICKEY MAKES YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE???????" What does Mickey have to do with the "Magical" show in the "NEW" Fireworks show, I mean he had to do in the Tokyo show but in disneyland?/ HELLO??? I really hope they sing the chorus once again, and do some new arrangements. And the selections of the Princess I think they are terrible, !!! Beauty and the beast just dosen't do it for me I rather hear a new score from Snow White or Little Mermaid. Oh well let's cross our fingers and I hear you on your unconformity. Thank God there are fans like you who really ask for GOOD stuff!!!!!

From what I've read, this was basically a way to A) reduce costs, B) give them something new to market for the summer and C) to have a fireworks show for the summer that wouldn't require them to close a dozen attractions every night. The show is only running for the summer and then Remember will be back. I suspect there will probably be a new show (or at least an updated remember) for the 55th next year.

Also, I heard there might be some old Epcot music in there as well? Pre-Illuminations stuff.

Something tells me that Remember will return in a revised format. I can't see them going back to shutting down attractions every night and dealing with the crowd problems it caused. I also don't think Magical will be as bad as Imagine was.

Steven Davison is Vice President of Parades and Spectaculars at The Walt Disney Company. I got to meet Steven over the weekend. He is quite a captivating/entertaining individual! :)
Lucky duck! I am so looking forward to the World of Color.

I got to see, well, part of the show last Friday, unfortunately the winds picked up and the show had to be stopped right as the Baby Mine segment was beginning, so no Dumbo and no Tinkerbell. I'll be back on Wednesday so hopefully I'll get to see the rest. I enjoyed what I saw though- it was interesting seeing a more "traditional" Disney fireworks show back at Disneyland after the more attraction-oriented Remember. Also having seen both I can definitely say that it is far better than Imagine.

I agree, Magical is way better than Imagine. As least in Magical you can't really tell that the music is recycled (the only thing that I recognized right off the bat was when Flora and Merryweather were arguing), unlike Imagine..

I know this may seem off topic, but does anyone remember that Splashtacular at Epcot Center many years ago recycled TDL's 10th Anniversary Summer Show (that was also tied in with Magical!) ?
