Disney/Universal?

I was wondering if someone could explain to me the connections with Disney's Buena Vista Music Group and Universal Music Group. A while back when Pete's Dragon and The Rescuers Down Under soundtracks were going to be released, there was a link the a Universal Music website that stated the release dates. Does Universal distribute Disney's products. The CD cases from Walt Disney Records, Hollywood, Lyric Street, Buena Vista, and Mammoth all have Disney addresses and manufacturers listed. I'm confused... any help would be appreciated.

I've got Canadian releases of the two CDs mentioned, and they are made and distributed by Universal, according to the back inserts of the CDs.
I don't know if there are further connections, though.
