According to the website of his agency RANDY NEWMAN has been signed as composer for the score for the Disney Pixard animated feature "cars" - see http://www.gsamusic.com/currenthighlights.html and http://www.gsamusic.com/Composers/NewmanRandy.pdf

Pixar returns to its "standard composer" with this after signing different composers for Finding Nemo and The Incredibles.

The same agency is also working for Thomas Newman who was signed for Finding Nemo (http://www.gsamusic.com/Composers/NEWMANTO.pdf) and Michael Giacchino who scored The Incredibles (http://www.gsamusic.com/Composers/Giacchino.pdf).

Which brings me to the second topic of this post: Michael Giacchino is scoring the new soundtrack for "Space Mountain: Mission 2" at the Disneyland Resort Paris opening April 9. The overview found at above mentioned site only speaks of "Space Mountain" but the information was also confirmed by Imagineers during an official event last Saturday at DLRP.

Well, that is HUGE news regarding Giacchino writing a new score for Space Mountain at DLP, replacing Steve Bramson's excellent score for De La Terre a la Lune. I hope we get to hear some of Giacchino's music on an upcoming park cd -- hey, how about one devoted to the music and sounds of Space Mountain DLP, with Bramson's complete queue music for the attraction and whatever Giacchino comes up with!

......fingers are getting stiff here at our computer, trying to stay warm with our current below zero temps up here in Maine, but here goes.....

Thanks, Dirk, for the welcome news about Randy Newman coming back on board for "Cars"; I've been a fan of his for a LONG time, ever since his classic "Good Old Boys," which I still bring out from time to time(remember--"Beware, beware, beware of the naked man!"). Hopefully he'll give us at least one new song. You posted a while back that "Cars" was going to have at least one song, but it's a cover. New film songs seem to come few and far between recently.......

Wow, I hadn't heard that Ben... that gives me hope that we'll actually get to hear the score on one of the upcoming Disneyland OA's. DLP has been utterly pathetic in releasing decent park music over the years.

Well, Randy pretty much confirmed that the new Space Mountain (Disneyland) score will be on the CD boxed set, so yeah, there's definitely hope.
