Disney Movie Score CD's

I have just begun collecting the Disney movie Score CD's. I understand that many of them were not officially released, etc. and are very hard to find. Does any collector on here have a list of what scores are/were available? I believe there was one for the Princess Diaries as well as Mulan but I am sure there are many more.

Anyone with any info please post!

Thanks-

Leesa :)

Leesa -

Check the ALBUM INDEX at the top of the page, it lists which scores were released and if they are still available (the ones with the "Buy It" link/button. Although it doesn't list The Princess Diaries, I think there was an official score release. As for Mulan, there was an "oscar promo" cd sent out during that year's oscar race, and that is the version, which is expanded, you will find on eBay for a pocketful of money.

You may be able find "B**tleg" versions of the following Disney scores, which have not been officially released by Disney:

Something Wicked This Way Comes
The Black Hole
Mulan
The Black Cauldron

Some Disney scores were released on record labels other than Disney:

Never Cry Wolf - Windham Hill
The Great Mouse Detective - Varese Sarabande

Hope this helps.

Didn't Varese Sarabande release The Black Cauldron too on CD? I am pretty sure that they released the score.

Am I remembering my collection incorrectly?

Yes, they did, however it was a new recording done by the Utah Symphony Orchestra. It was highlights from the film and not the full score. The bootleg is the full score. The only problem with it is that there are no track titles and the volume is very low so it's very hard to hear it sometimes.

Ahhh... thanks for the clarification Ben! That makes sense.

On a similiar note, does anyone else find that the soundtrack ("official" release) from The Black Cauldron is bad? It's my LEAST favorite of ALL my CDs. (And to think I paid over $100 for it. :( )
