Don't know if there is any interest in this on this board or not but Intrada just released

Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend by Jerry Goldsmith.

Here's a link:

http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.5668/.f?category=-101

Previous to the announcement there was some talk from the producers that this release opened new doors for the label. It is possible that Intrada may be releasing limited edition CDs of some Disney scores including Something Wicked this Way Comes and others. Maybe we'll even get a CD release of the Black Hole.

Just thought you guys might like to know.

Here's the announcement:

Wow! Intrada is proud to premier, in cooperation with Walt Disney, complete Jerry Goldsmith original soundtrack from B.W.L. Norton dinosaur adventure starring William Katt, Sean Young, Patrick McGoohan. Goldsmith fashions tuneful idea for "Baby" but anchors with majestic fanfare motif for entire dinosaur family. Incredible action music plays in balance. Highlights are many: lengthy "Base Camp Assault" displays Goldsmith's ability to add layers of suspense, "Dragon Breath" displays penchant for ethnic color, ferocious helicopter "Jump" sequence displays flair for action. Towering above all is propulsive 5/8 meter "Rescue" music with unrelenting ostinato under roaring brass. When entire orchestra suddenly tacets for two bars, leaving percussion to carry thundering rhythm alone, listeners hear one of composer's most exciting riffs. To close score, Goldsmith wraps with resounding, spectacular fanfare for brass. A tour-de-force! Entire score presented in stereo from Disney digital master elements. Generous array of color stills from studio vault plus informative notes from Jeff Bond complete package. Jerry Goldsmith conducts. Intrada Special Collection release limited to 3000 copies!

And out the the 3,000 limited issue discs, over 2,000 have already been pre-ordered - that is a pretty good sign for a Disney/Touchstone release that flopped at the box office.

Well, it might have something to do with it being Jerry Goldsmith too. :)

But, yeah, it's hopefully the start of more.

Thanks for pointing the release out - would have missed it otherwise and thanks to you managed to get my order in before it sold out. In general I am not a huge fan of Jerry Goldsmith but...

Anyway ... while I would love to see some additional scores from the archives make their way to us via Intrada I am not too confident. This is not thef irst Disney related release of their selling out, though ... Bruce Broughton's Eloise scores come to mind.

Yours

Dirk

Eloise is not a release Intrada did in coorperation with Disney. Handmade Films has the film and music rights.

Thanks for the correction - I had assumed the rights where with Disney since the CD mentioned "Buena Vista Home Entertainment". Again learned something
